  1. The new software came out yesterday! So many awesome improvements.
  2. I'm happy to report that the world is still here in 2016. Happy new year everyone!!
  3. Woohoo! Stroke rate for SUP! We've been asking for that for a while.
  4. That paddle is too short!
  5. I'm pretty sure the only people that could tell you are the ones that have owned both. I've had the cheaper model for about 4 months now. The screen is fine, although I have a few very small marks in the metal ring around the glass.
  6. I'll put his into the "bad" category. Sometimes when it rains, it rains... Today's forecast:
  7. Our daughter was 3 and a bit when we moved here. And we've been here for almost 2 years. She used to see her grandparents multiple times a week, and we stayed with the grandparents for 7 weeks before we left. Sad to say, but I don't think she really misses that at all. And by that I mean that she's so busy, and has made so many friends, that's its not really something she thinks about. My wife does weekly skype calls with her parents, and my daughter will only care to join about every 2nd time, and then after 5 minutes she's done. Kids' concept of time is strange. Perhaps when she's older she'll have more of that proper "missing" emotion, I don't know.
  8. There is rain, don't you worry! Most of my pics have a cloudy sky, and it's quite possible that there was rain before or after any of those shots. Outside of winter though, the weather changes quickly, so it can be raining one minute and sunny the next. And because rain is possible at any time, people just ignore it and carry on carrying on. In winter however, there are periods where it rains continuously for consecutive days. The result is that there are many indoor activities available, especially for kids - eg. climbing gyms, trampolines and bouncy parks.
  9. Other random pics... Kids mtb track in Rotorua Paddleboarding on lake Okareka Some trail wildlife Picnic spot in one of the nearby regional parks
  10. Sorry for only just discovering this thread, but let me comtribute a few random photos... This is the village where we live, about 20 minutes from East Auckland (still part of greater Auckland though) The view from the boat club Winter at the beach Looking out from the top of the forest behind our house Finishing a ride at the beach
  11. That sure looks like a great deal. Otherwise you're looking at one of the many Breville varieties under $1k. Often on special at Briscoes.
  12. What is the head angle? Also seems like a huge oversight to not have dropper cable routing?
  13. Martin, if your Pike is bottoming on big hits, you need to add another volume token. I don't really understand why anyone would choose this fork over the excellent Pike? The weight difference is tiny. Is it just cost? Once you've ridden a Pike through a rock-garden or very rooty section of trail, you'll never want to ride a 32mm fork again. The difference is huge.
  14. CRC repacks a lot of stuff. Probably to save on storage space and reduce shipping costs.
  15. You obviously don't fall off as much as I do Sounds like I must give my swat vesty thing a try then.
  16. How does it compare with riding with an XC jersey that has pockets? I actually got given a Specialized Swat vest which has pockets, but I haven't worn it yet because I don't get why I wouldn't just wear an XC jersey. I have to admit that half the reason I ride with a pack is for something soft to land on.
  17. What's the big deal here? The fact that bib shorts are comfy, or that it has storage pockets?
  18. Perhaps I'm missing a little detail, but wouldn't that leave a lovely imprint in your skull if you crashed with it?
  19. On my XC bike I run the Fast Track 2.2 rear (not S-Works, which has stupid thin sidewalls), with a Spez Captain 2.2 in front. The Captain rolls similarly to a Crossmark but has proper sideknobs for cornering. Unfortunately availability of the Captains is poor so you might not find one. My second choice for the front would the Spez Ground Control, which is a great all-round tyre with decent grippy knobs.
  20. You're gonna love that Butcher on the front. Outstanding under-rated (and very well priced) tyre.
  21. What an unfortunate name. Will never be able to look my mate Graham in the eye again.
  22. That's impressive. I ran the non-SG trailstar version up front through winter. Most of my side knobs have small tears. Tread depth is still very good though, hardly any wear.
  23. I've sworn off the MM and HD now. Both of them suffer from dodgy side knobs that want to come off. For summer I'll be back to a Specialized Purgatory at the rear, and possibly a Specialized Butcher in front.
