  1. The best of the SABC
  2. Omnico is more worried about margins and cosy dealer arrangements keeping prices fixed than volume at good prices.
  3. Hope the route stays away from that shooting range .. seriously disturbs my karmatic rhythm. Otherwise always a great bushveld ride. I am in,
  4. Wood + Outdoors = PIA
  5. Now that is going back! My parents used to talk about going there in the 50's - back in the day of silent movies when a pianist would do the sound track.
  6. Aah what a life growing up in a sexually repressed society... Who remembers their first porn movie? back in the daze when that was jail time. There was this lady who worked at the hardware shop in the local mall who was a covert source of 8mm porn films, that she was more than happy to share with teenage boys (nudge nudge wink wink). I borrowed my dad's projector and a few holiday film productions to 'show my friends' at a friends house who's parents had gone out. Of course we invited girls in the hope that it would turn out in an orgy but no such luck in that day and age of the forbidden yet desperately desired fruits.
  7. Peter Cohen was also the drummer for Mango Grove Aah those were the days .. when the dream of non-racialism was kickin and gruving
  8. How about the Pencil Test? lest we forget
  9. Of course, I still have their album on vinyl nogal. Great vibes, good times.. Drummer was Peter Cohen who has come a long way as a musician - lately with Freshlyground How about the Asylum Kids? f0k that was a jol
  10. Anyone know where one can get DIY carbon fiber supplies around Jozi?
  11. Apparently going to be broadcast on SABC now? (for a friend, me not football fan)
  12. Which brings "Last tango in Paris" to mind, on the films that was banned outright here back in the day. When I finally got around to watching it, its quite shocking anti-sex in a way.
  13. Well kinda ... my main game is electronics & electrical and I am aware of the charging regimes of Lithium Ion, The cells in the battery packs are 'unprotected' which means the BMS is done by a board in the pack so I can't see any reason why the cells cant be replaced.
  14. That is true ... even with Makita one gets entry level relatively flimsy (but cheaper) battery powered drills. We don't really get the full range here, I generally source from the US via ebay. I have one of the first Makita 18V three speed drills, its been a hard worker but its really heavy compared to the latest brushless (and more plastic) units. btw, I am awaiting a shipment of decent Samsung 18650 Lithium Ion cells to attempt redoing a battery pack
  15. I have a very old Makita belt sander (via an ex) that must be 30+ years old, still runs well. Its a beast. Unlike my lighter plastic R4k+ Bosch Blue that has a habit of melting.
  16. Yes, Toolshop in Randburg carries them. They have nice systems if do a lot of on-site carpentry, and have very deep pockets.
  17. There's a lot more choices in the dispensable power tool market, take a visit to Adendorrrffff as well. If you are in the Eastgate area, Mega Mica have a few other el-cheapo brands there that I cant remember, and their prices & service are generally good. Better to go there than Builders, promise! Although I buy Makita/Metabo/Bosch Blue/Fluke etc I started off with what I could afford back in the day. Hard to justify a 2 or 3 times premium for a power tool that gets used once in a blue moon. Besides bragging rights of course.
  18. There is also the affordable Bosch Green range which is okay for DIY, I would go for that before B&D and Ryobi
  19. Ryobi Is okay for occasional DIY use - they don't have a high duty cycle or build quality but their cordless tools certainly could be useful around the house. There is good backup although I recently got a chain from them for a Ryobi electric chainsaw I scored from a client, it was silly expensive cf to the Stihl I normally use. Thing is as well the is the battery system, once you go a particular brand one get locked into their system.
  20. You need the right length of pipe going full into the compression adapter for it to work properly (believe!) if the olive sits on the edge the pipe will not hold up to the compression
  21. If there is enough slack in the pipe in the cavity that they can face each other then repair is much easier you don't have to phuk around filing compression adapters from your local DIY store you can use ONE stock one with the ridge in the middle and join the pipes
  22. okay I will repeat the advice You get two types of these inline compression fittings, the normal one has a ridge inside that the pipe pushes against which is fine when you join two pipes together and you can slide the one in. You cant use these because the replacement pipe has to fit in the gap so the compression adapters must slide back over the pipe, then you put in the replacement but, slide it back so it centers over the join.
  23. You will need filler bit of pipe and two compression adapters, as a i say you can use copper pipe, that looks like the 15mm, you should be able to get by the m You need to mark the location of the compression adapter on the pipe so the end is in the center. Or call a plumber.
  24. Filing would be a last option if you cant get the slip type without the step, they are stock in any plumbers tool box. Even then its going to be tricky job filing out the step, make sure you take the olives out before attempting to file
