  1. What a fantastic trip and feedback. Do you mind me asking approximate cost? (I guess there is a luxury option and a roughing it option) Also, the backup vehicle, did it follow you religiously the whole way or meet up with you at certain points on route each day? Thanks. Definitely a bucket list item.
  2. Age old philosophy - never celebrate till you know you have crossed the line
  3. Thanks for the clarification Furbz and love2fly
  4. It was the Cradle Cracker yesterday so could of in all probability been as a result of the runners.
  5. Google is your friend. Bicycle Evolution - numerous comparative pics
  6. Some HTFU hill repeats through Westcliff
  7. Definite Scam Exact same bike advertised for R35000 by a gent in Durbanville
  8. Horrific crash yesterday on stage 2 of the Etoile de Bessèges. Stage was neutralized post the crash. The crash happened in the bunch as the road narrowed to cross a bridge, leaving riders strewn across the asphalt. A breakaway further up the road had already passed through that point. TotalEnergies’ Valentin Ferron was left dangling from the side of the bridge following the crash, unable to get back up with bikes and other riders blocking his path. The race was immediately neutralized by the race organizer with 22.1km to go. The peloton remained stationary for about 20 minutes before the riders began moving again. However, news soon filtered through that there were no ambulances left to service the race as they were taking riders to nearby hospitals for treatment. It meant that the stage could no longer be contested for safety reasons and the remaining bunch would ride slowly behind the race vehicles.
  9. His contract with Total Energies is till end 2024?
  10. I guess I am a bit of a snob when it comes to bibs. 1st choice - Castelli / Assos 2nd - Santini
  11. Built this up for my son who has outgrown his 24" by a country mile. Not pretty, but perfectly functional.
  12. Just highlights how F....d Up the gun laws are in the USA. The fact that you can gift somebody a firearm is beyond any logical reasoning. It’s easy to buy a weapon in Texas After providing the background information required by Federal law for licensed gun dealers, he asked the salesperson if they needed to have Armstrong’s information, too. “No,” he was told. “In the state of Texas, you can gift someone a gun.”

  14. The unfortunate reality is that Road Conditions is going to be a major factor on most races going forward.
  15. Not to scare you off. Just need to make you aware of the high bicycle theft rate in and around Stellenbosch. Best to keep a very close eye on your bikes, especially while grabbing a coffee etc.
  16. My 2C. Hade my road bike frame repaired early 2021 by CBR in North Riding. Had a seat tube fracture. The actual cost of the repair was reasonable. What did strike me as over the top was the respray. If I wanted to go full colour match, would have been +/- 2K, whereas a non-matching (gloss white) block spray was R600. Because the repair was below the FD and obscured by the crank, block spray was a no brainer. Another cost to factor in, was the strip and rebuild cost. This I guess can fluctuate based on the complexity of the build. Mine was marked as complexed (internal cable routings, integrated bars etc)
  17. Now this is what we all need: Work-ready Acer eKinekt BD 3 exercise bike powers your laptop | Stuff The Acer eKinekt BD 3 is an off-grid digital nomad's dream. The eco-friendly Acer eKinekt BD 3 is part stationary exercise bike, part office desk, and can convert your pedal power into electricity to juice up your tech while you work out. From the ground up, it’s a pretty standard-looking exercise bike that’s made from post-consumer recycled plastic. Only a compact desk has been plonked over the handlebars. A built-in LCD display shows how hard you’re working (physically working, that is – it can’t tell if you’re sending emails or filling out spreadsheets in rapid time), with an hour of cycling at 60rpm able to generate 75 watts of power. The desk has three USB ports (two full-size and a single USB-C) to recharge your gadgets, along with space for a laptop, a bag hook and cup holder, so you can set up for the day and cycle a century without having to take your eye off your inbox. Both the bike seat and desk height are adjustable, with separate Working and Sports modes able to swap between an upright position (ideal for pedaling and typing at the same time) and a more lean-forward one for extra leg space to really punish those quads. The desk slides forwards and backwards for when it is and isn’t needed, too. There’s a smartphone companion app that works out calories burned, and watts generated in real-time, based on personal info like height, weight, age and gender, with workout history recorded over time. This isn’t some wacky concept, either: the Acer eKinekt BD 3 is actually going on sale, with prices set to start from $999 in the US and €999 in Europe. Home working cycle addicts will be able to snap one up in June.
  18. Could end up being another scorcher if next week's temps are anything to go buy.
  19. Has anyone had any dealings with GoSolr? We are looking at some of their offerings and would just like some firsthand feedback? Also (slightly off topic), how do you guys keep your pools clear during all this load shedding? We have a large pool (>100000L) and it looking like a bit of a duck pond at the moment.
  20. In the process of building up a 26er for my son who has outgrown his 24''.
  21. Try Plett Cycles as I think they are a Santa Cruz agent. Home (thebikeshop.co.za) They may be able to help.
  22. Being a Fondriest fan, would opt for the Dardo disc in burnt orange
  23. Out of curiosity, if you get items delivered to a mate in the UK and then they courier it on to you, are there still duties/VAT etc payable?
  24. Thank you Shebeen. Trauma counseling has been a definite win and has really helped me and the family move forward. The one thing that still haunts me is the fact that this guy's friends (on the premise that they know what he did) are willing to protect him. Gives new meaning to the so called 'Bro' code. I have been really amazed by the support of the community and the lengths that some hubbers have gone to in trying to assist with trying to find the perp. Won't mention names, but you know who you are and once again thanks. Hopefully Karma will prevail or like I said in a previous post, this guy will look to seek help for his anger management issues.
  25. Not how I wanted to make the top ten🤪 2nd on the List
