  1. If you have the right tools and know your way around a bike, costs nothing. A good learning experience and fun at the same time. (if no internal cable routing - that is a bitch to deal with LOL)
  2. Always had excellent service from both Janos and Naas.
  3. Correct - Gibbons at Lidl Trek for 2024/25 Reiny and Willy will ride for China Continental for 2024
  4. Pretty much sums it up.🙂 Good luck to all and stay hydrated as best as possible.
  5. Off topic 🤣 He is riding quite a bit with Mr Beers. Matt is doing Attakwas. Wonder if Sagan will do it for fun?
  6. 1 X set up. I even run a 1 X on my road bike. Used hate the constant chain rub on the FD and no matter how much fine tuning I would do, it was always there so decided extreme measures were in order. Binned the FD and run either a 42 or 44 chainring with an 11/34 cassette.
  7. Think the guy (Back Left) is his coach (Patxi Villa) - From Bhora days Front left looks to be Benno Willeit from Specialized Factory Racing. Open to correction though
  8. Looking to embark on a similar project with my sons old 26er. Has a Cannondale HT frame that is showing its age and would be perfect for something like this.
  9. See he will be in CT for some time. Hi everybody! I'm off to beautiful South Africa 🇿🇦 where I'll spend a month of intense training on MTB! New year, new challenges and new goals! 🚵... | By Peter Sagan | Facebook
  10. I utilise Fabric Line scoop on both my MTB and Road and zero issues.
  11. Slightly off topic but found this photo of me (on the left) and my brother (on the right) of us getting ready for a ride with our dad. Circa late 1970's Good old BSA bikes. Mind the fashion.
  12. I also admit to not managing my fluid intake correctly. Thought that I was drinking more than enough until the Hamstring cramps hit at the top of Jan Smuts. Even trying to walk was bloody painful. Thanks to marshal at the finish line who helped me un-stradle my bike as both legs just seized when I stopped. No one to blame but myself.
  13. were you the ones handing out the Oranges? If so thanks a mill. Also got some ice for the shorts to keep the muscles cool.
  14. George would be the better choice. Close to Wilderness with some nice MTB rides up to Harkerville and surrounds. Depending on fitness, you could also look to do Montagu pass (not sure of condition though post the rains) but there is a nice wine farm the other side of the pass that one can stop at for lunch etc. Also some decent farm roads out airport way as well.
  15. Just used the stats from Racetec and Finish Time from my individual finish times. May not be all that accurate but still indicative of the decreasing numbers
  16. Although it was in direct sun, my Garmin registered 45 degrees on the section up to Wits.
  17. Factor in the ride from the car to the start and back again, you are looking at over a 100Kays. (depending on where you parked) As you said, some of us enjoy it, most don't.
  18. Anyone else get the sense that Ride Joburg (94.7) is starting to loose it's appeal? I am sure covid had a big part to play but looking at the decrease in the numbers over the last 10 years, it is evident that entries have decreased by over 50% with this year being the lowest. 2023 +/- 8500 starters 2022 +/- 9300 starters 2021 +/- 9500 starters 2019 +/- 15800 starters 2018 +/- 18400 starters 2017 +/- 20000 starters 2016 +/- 20300 starters 2015 +/- 21500 starters 2014 +/- 21700 starters 2013 +/- 20800 starters Thoughts??
  19. No worries. You can send me a virtual 🍺
  20. Fun day out. Coffee at Dunkeld. Helped a gent out with flat near the zoo. Helped a lady out going up to Wits who cramped and toppled over. @Frosty saw the poor person who passed just by Gold Reef. Condolences to the family
  21. Yes. Came through this afternoon. WhatsApp and email. Thanks
  22. Pretty much sums it up
  23. Has anyone received any comms about number collection etc? No QR codes received as yet, zero comms about dates etc. This year just seems to be very disorganized.
  24. Although I run Tubeless, carry a spare tube (been burnt before), a bomb and multitool. As Frosty said, lots of assistance on route and others willing to lend a hand (that is if they are not going for a PB or Strava Segment🤣)
  25. Maybe someone needs to tell their website admin that the MTB race was yesterday and is thus finished?
