  8. Track Frame - have been told it may be either a Peugeot track or a Richert Track? after removing all the layers (three)it was originally painted a green gold colour (no remaining decals )and used to wear a head badge for which there are two horizontal indents on head tube. Rear drop outs marked BREV CAMPAGNOLO on both sides of both dropouts front dropouts marked CAMPAGNOLO crank is a campy pista 165 seat tube 26.4 it came with a flip flop rear hub and this Campy Record high flange 36 h track hub on front anyone have any idea what it is (is it something or should I turn it into a really cool fixie
  9. most interesting place ive ever seen that brakeset
  10. yeah its a scrader valve in a slightly nasty CST super 27 and a quarter tyre - the choices of tyres aren't that extensive when you have 27 and quarter wheels those are old mtb tubes I stuck in there just to see if it all works the tyres weigh a ton- good for Strade Bianche though
  11. My cleaned up Peugeot Aero with eroica legal brake levers and pedals and new tape and leather saddle
  12. looking for some advice about repairs and welding on a Columbus bianchi steel frame I acquired as a junker but would like to fix if possible bent back stay and broken joint where backstay joins the seattube see OP below who in the western cape can evaluate and/or repair it etc https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/167673-welding-repairs-on-a-columbus-frame/?source=lfp
  13. looks good for something built out of a bargain bin seanp mine definitely requires some new tyres the old ones on her are 80s canvas wall 20cm conti slicks (they where all the rage and skinny as sh*t ) they where puncture prone when new and now they are like rat nests and flaking all over as soon as I stick some new rubber on ill put some miles on her (like this weekend) had forgotten how much fun it was to ride steel
  14. the other one that was hanging in the garage got a clean up on long weekend and some new bar tape and some general lovin previous older one is still in bits all over the garage Peugeot Le Mans complete 7 speed shimano 105 groupset incl wheelhubs headset and pedals - its like riding a greased up whippet
  15. im not repainting it - just cleaned it up (no abrasives or solvents) lots of derusting parts with coke and cleaning the chrome with metal foil etc striped everything replaced a broken axle regreased everything etc got a more period saddle (needs a recover) and tyres new brake blocks for the still not very reliable brakeset new cables and white outers new white perforated period bar tape will replace chain as its way sad toe clips and straps now that all the bits are clean it actually looks quite good despite the life time of knocks I think it can stay this way its not an original bike if you respray it so as per your advice iil wax polish it ill stick a pic up when its done and ill ride it sometimes too
  16. interesting bio info on Gotty Hansen with nice info about dates of manufacture of various bikes by him etc http://inthebunch.co.za/2012/12/gottys-got-all-round-legend-status/
  17. well just while im here the crank is missing one of its caps superbe racing equipment off a superbe solida crankset if someone has one lying around in their "box" let me know and a suggestion for a product to stop the rust would be welcome also
  18. thanks most of the bits place it in 1980s its very likely that it will get some kind of a slop with rust stop some new bar tape (and possibly some oil in strategic places) and a saddle that you can actually sit on and then ill ride it around for a laugh while wearing my old Peugeot casquette and jersey just to irritate my carbon racing brothers
  19. yeah im just afraid ill get coodies from sitting on it I have no idea which end to start cleaning first and its rusting a bit here and there all over so it might not be here by next eroica
  20. so what do i have here peugeot steel frame (i can tell by rust) chrome dropouts size 55 ish marked AERO executive (has a eliptical down tube ) prestige peugeot suntour symmetric shifters- 6 speed - superbe solida crank - suntour ARX derailleurs Dia-compe ac500 brakeset -Sakae bars marked custom world champion - suntour wheelset 271/4 + chromed QRs - sr100 japan pedals its horrible but it all seems to work shift etc although the brakes leave a bit to the imagination(you imagine you will stop but you dont ) number - 30 711 stamped into the dropout but no number under the crank on frame anyone? is it worth saving or should I just keep it as is (add oil)
  21. heal up quick bro we got stoned by teenagers on roadside outside Cloetesville where the R44 meets the 310 weekend before the CTCT also during daylight with cars passing lots of cyclists go that way so if you want one to target we are easy to find there

  23. agree with above the new wide mtb rims and new tyre tech negate/replace the need for these things just get good wide rims
  24. I think they have already made their feelings pretty clear about their relationship to us ...(and everyone else) would be so easy to pedal past and stick a nice difficult to remove decal on their windscreens maybe a fellow huber in the print industry could sponser us for a test period or a few thousand to start up would get our problems in the news #justathought
  25. maybe we should start a cape town version of these guys- they get stuff done ! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMrKscEv_Ri1pvlRsLxsqJQ those stickers are a great idea maybe without the punch-ups after though
