The mentality of some of the trolls on this site is a joke...most of you who bitch and moan about prices don't ride nearly as much as you should be riding and purchase things far to often than need be because you need to have the best in the group the whole time...but seeing as how MUCH everyone is saving from purchasing online I seriously need to do it. I take it the same guys that are complaining about LBS prices are the same that complain about race fees...get over it if you are not prepared to pay for the service than don't use it plain and simple. I think he should not be allowed to compete in the able bodied Olympics....you don't see Usain Bolt going to compete in one of the Para Olympic 100m events.

I believe your threshold power is not right and to high....I don't know what your max HR is but riding at 250watts with a HR of 175 is quite high.

I know the same distributors that bring in Merida do Titan as well, don't know about the quality of the carbon. I will go for the better groupset option

Warranty on the frame is 3 years but if you are willing to have the bike serviced twice a year at a Scott dealer they will extend it to 5 years. Probike are the new DT Swiss Agents so back up on the shock should not be a problem

They will yes if you perform consistently, get involved in a club, most of the big clubs have a type of "race team". If you perform well through them you get noticed quicker and a lot of the times these clubs have ex pro's that can help you out. It is difficult in South Africa to get a sponsorship and sponsors are carefull to invest in riders as many have just given up in the past when goings get though. You also need to perform at big events

There is not a lot of Scott CR1's of last year left anymore so shop around maybe you come right I agree with you some people will suggest to get a TT bike but riding a 180km and just competing you want to be comfortable.....I think you are getting a good deal but there is better out there and you are not essentially getting a massive discount as the mark up on accesories is more than bikes so they BS you there!

Whats the parts budget?

Get rim tape, two tubeless valves and a bottle of Stans liquid. Gonna cost you around R400 for everything but you wont use all the tape and solution so next time it will be even cheaper to do the conversion

I will be back for my 3rd one next year, it just keeps getting better every year for me and the organisation and the marshalling was of the highest standard! Doing the clover tour later this year will see if it comes close though
