  1. What does the 1.95, 2.1, 2.25 etc reading on a MTB tyre mean? I always thought that it was the width of the tyre. Now from what I've read it could mean the height of the tyre. Google says it is the circumferance of the tyre in meters.
  2. I would sell the AC 420s separately. You'll get about R3 500 for them and about R7 - R8 000 on the bike (with the Alex wheels)
  3. I differ from that. The Hub is a huge market.
  4. There are 3 that I know of. They might not be reps, but they seem to be employees with some sort of influence. Gummi already gave the name of one.
  5. Yet more Scott complaints.
  6. True..........a few years ago I subscribed to an American magazine. Cost R168 for 12 issues which is basically R14 per copy, delivered to my door. The same magazine (back then) sold at CNA for R65.00 per copy. That is a 460% markup on my landed cost. If I could get it for R14, surely, they could get it for less.
  7. Give Solomons a try. They were selling some really nice bikes at good prices recently. www.solomons.co.za You might just pick up a new Tiagra specced bike for your budget.

    Wheel Upgrade

Those red wheels you are referring to are much older than 2005. If those wheels have seen better days, then the Shimano R500 will be a good replacement and will do the same job. They won't be an upgrade though.
  9. When are people going to realise that cleats are those little triangle shape things that screw on to the sole of the shoe. Shoes and pedals (peddles) are something completely different.

  11. There's been a lot of negative comments regarding Scott's after sales service. Do a search on Rant n Rave. I cannot comment on Ghost's backup support.
  12. Whats up at the worlds. Isn't normally country vs country at the world champs? Why are the teams racing against each other?
  13. I use the bio degradable engine cleaner (it is less harsh than the non bio version). I spray it on my chain, cassette, front & rear deraileur and brake pivot points. I use Sunlight for the rest. After 5 years, my bike still looks as if it was bought yesterday. My cassette shines and has over 10 000kms on it.
  14. Since I have been cycling (since 1998) I have done that and have never had an inch of trouble.
  15. It could be just a previous year's model. Most manufacturers change their colour scheme every year. It's not a bad buy for the price. Sportman's Warehouse are normally over priced. You may find something similar for less in a bike shop,
  16. Just clean the whole thing. You are not going to damage anything. All you need to worry about is keeping whatever degreaser you use away from your bb, wheel bearings, headset and freewheel. The rest is fine. I also put degreaser on my cassette, making sure none of it goes into the free wheel Hose everything off with a hose pipe. Let it dry. Slide the cables back and put a drop of lube there and on your jockey wheels. Then lube the chain. I normally spray a bit of Q20 onto the deraileur pivot points and the brake pivot points too and wipe off any excess with a paper towel. You are actually doing more damage to your bike by not cleaning the drivetrain. Dirt is a moving parts worst enemy. It acts like grinding paste
  17. looks like the reward may have worked https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/131163-r50000-on-offer/
  18. What i think is so cool about Robbie Hunter, is that he hasn't lost his South African accent.
  19. My daughter is actively involved with EP swimming and they have been using St George's school pool until Newton Park is repaired. It is also heated and indoors. Why not give the school a shout and ask if they make it available to individuals. We are heading in to summer, there are also outdoor public pools in Westering and St George's park itself. They will be opening soon.
  20. Postnet quoted us R3 800 to post an aluminium braai dish to my brother in law in NZ. Sent it via snail mail at the post office for R180. It took 10 days to get there. I paid R365 to post a whole bike with Time Freight from PE to Jhb. Collected at my house and they dropped it off at the buyers house.
  21. It's nothing new, lots of forks come with remote lockout. Personally, I feel it's just another item to clog up your handlebar. The normal remote lever is withi reach on the fork crown anyway.
  22. Actualy Madlight, it is the other way round. The Infinito is the more relaxed of the two. The Sempre is an out and out race machine. It is the "budget" version of the Oltre. There is a new carbon Bianchi out called the Vertigo (I think that is it's name). It is also a comfort orientated racer, but comes in at a much better price than the Infinito and in my opinion, looks much nicer.
  23. I've done a bit of research into RLS, I'm convinced that I have it too. From what I have read, there is no cure, in fact they don't even know what causes it. They believe that it is a neurological disorder. I find that if I wake up with the pain, I lie on my back and stretch my legs. The pain disappears and I am fine for 2 hours or so. But from what I have read, the symptoms and pain differs from person to person.
  24. Avalanche Max with 20 inch wheels. They are the cheapest of the "quality" kids bike and come with a suspension fork and 6speed gripshift. They retail for about R1 800. There are cheaper ones that will fall apart and more expensive ones that offer more than a little girl needs
  25. Scott=quality.
