  1. Can't remember when last both the Cheetahs and Stormers won on the same weekend. Who said turnover ball and attacking rugby doesn't win games? I fear Jake's become stale in his philosophy and Gert Smal's been a breath of fresh air.
  2. Not sure that is mathematically possible?
  3. @Goosebay. Fascinating post.
  4. Work commitments mean I'm probably out. Entered the 80km, but have only been on the bike three times since Sani. My wife drove through earlier today with friends for a few days of riding in and around Knysna before the big one on Saturday. I may yet go through on Friday for the weekend, but looking at the weather forecast maybe staying put is the right thing to do.
  5. My sentiments exactly. That's what I nominated to my friends. JP was good, but nowhere near man of the match.
  6. Enjoy. I hear the atmosphere in the new PE stadium is of the best in SA. My blood is green and orange today (quite a few Cheetahs in the team ). Glad Coenie is at 1, with Marcel van der Merwe coming on as tighthead replacement. Based on his form when he was still at the Cheetahs before he left for the Bulls, Marcel really should be the incumbent tighthead after Jannie, and keep Coenie at loosehead.
  7. Om die OP te beantwoord is dit eintlik maklik - of jy val in, of jy val uit. Hoe dit ookal sy, moet dit net nie te ernstig opvat nie. Welkom!
  8. I suspect that the Frans Steyn issue is more of a contractual issue between his agents (who have rights) and SARU (who have obligations) which he cannot unilaterally decide on. It might be that SARU suspend their contract with Steyn (not all the Boks are contracted), but that he still becomes available for selection. I'm sure he's the victim here, and not the culprit.
  9. Good on you Carpet. All's well that ends well.
  10. I took the "flu jab" in April and take Moducare every day. Touch wood, nothing yet, which isn't bad for a type 1 diabetic. But this can't explain why I haven't been on the bike since Sani.
  11. Wonder what this is all about then .... real shame. I rate him highly at 12 in the Bok team. Durban - Frans Steyn was released from the Springbok squad at his own request on Tuesday and will not appear in Saturday’s match against Wales at Kings Park in Durban. The player advised SARU officials that that he did not wish to be considered for the Incoming series. "The environment in the Springbok squad is fantastic and I would like to state categorically that my relationship withHeyneke Meyer, the rest of the management and my team-mates is very good," said Steyn. Steyn – who is expected to take up a contract in Japan at the end of the Super Rugby season – said that he wished for time to reflect on his Springbok future. He indicated he would be available for the Cell C Sharks once the June internationals are completed. "I have spoken at length to Frans and we are happy to accede to his request," said Jurie Roux, CEO of SARU. "He has asked for some time to consider his international playing future and we must respect that. "Let me make it clear that he has not retired from international rugby, but he has requested a break from it." Roux added that Steyn had asked for privacy at this time. "This is not an ideal situation, but, in other instances, sudden player absences through injury are not uncommon and I’m sure Heyneke and the selectors will adapt to his unavailability. "Frans is now out of the squad and team management will respect his wish for privacy by not speculating on his decision or his likely return."
  12. My Test starting 15, together with reserves. But we will likely see a very different team on Saturday in Cape Town. 15 Willie le Roux 14 JP Pietersen 13 Jan Serfontein (although he is a world-class 12 in the making) 12 Frans Steyn (assuming he doesn't carry injuries) 11 Brian Habana 10 Morne Steyn (but he's had a poor season in France and Goosen has been on and off) 9 Fourie du Preez 1 Tendai Mtawarira 2 Bismarck du Plessis 3 Jannie du Plessis 4 Bakkies Botha 5 Victor Matfield 6 Francois Louw 7 Willem Alberts 8 Duane Vermeulen Coenie Oosthuizen Gurthro Steenkamp Flip van der Merwe Marcell Coetzee Oupa Mohoje Ruan Pienaar JJ Engelbrecht Johan Goosen
  13. And yet again Heineke excludes the finest fetcher in world rugby from his final squad. It has to be personal. Wonder why or what?
  14. Forget the clever puns. That downhill is best done covered with 200 cm of snow on skis!!
  15. Return on paying it forward? ..... Munga!!! mmmmmm ................
  16. Do you pay insurance premiums, and was it covered?
  17. I'm in the same boat as you. Cyclesure better come up with some clear examples of when exclusions kick-in. Nothing worse than paying for cover you think you have but actually don't have. Either I will modify my behaviour to ensure compliance, or I will go to another insurer who offers less restrictive exclusions or cheaper premiums for the same cover.
  18. I've got no problem with the adhesive used for Epic stickers. Come to think of it, I'm more interested in owners of luxury vehicles who could use the same adhesive for their number plates that seem to have fallen off. 90% of vehicles without number plates fall into the above R 500,000 category. Whatever ...
  19. Well, my sentiments about Brussow are repeatedly articulated in this thread ... let's just hope he makes the final test squad. Some interesting choices in the training squad, and certainly a few surprises. And no overseas players as yet? I suspect they'll be in the final test squad. And only Goosen and Boshoff at 10 (for now). Springbok training squad: Forwards (20): Tendai Mtawarira (Sharks), Trevor Nyakane (Cheetahs), Marcel van der Merwe (Bulls)*, Jannie du Plessis (Sharks), Frans Malherbe (Stormers), Coenie Oosthuizen (Cheetahs), Bismarck du Plessis (Sharks), Adriaan Strauss (Cheetahs), Eben Etzebeth (Stormers), Lood de Jager (Cheetahs)*, Victor Matfield (Bulls), Flip van der Merwe (Bulls), Heinrich Brüssow (Cheetahs),Marcell Coetzee (Sharks), Siya Kolisi (Stormers), Willem Alberts (Sharks), Jacques du Plessis (Bulls)*, Teboho Mohoje (Cheetahs)*, Duane Vermeulen (Stormers), Schalk Burger (Stormers) Backs (16): Fourie du Preez (Suntory, Japan), Francois Hougaard (Bulls), Johan Goosen (Cheetahs), Marnitz Boshoff (Lions)*, Jean de Villiers (Stormers), Damian De Allende (Stormers)*, Jan Serfontein (Bulls), Juan de Jongh (Stormers), JJ Engelbrecht (Bulls), S’bura Sithole (Sharks)*, Frans Steyn(Sharks), Lwazi Mvovo (Sharks), Bjorn Basson (Bulls), JP Pietersen (Sharks), Cornal Hendricks (Cheetahs)*, Willie le Roux (Cheetahs) * - Uncapped at Test level
  20. BA indeed. Only ever fly BA if I can help it. Here's the reason for flymango ... Still have it but don't ride it often enough.
  21. Was taken early morning of the start from the guest farm where we stayed just outside Underberg.
  22. Think it was about R250. And the group B car rental for the 5 days was R1300 (excl. tank of fuel, which I guess will be about R700). So total cost is about R2,250. So between 2 people it's a no-brainer, and also because then one can stay at a surrounding guest house at the start instead of the school. For one person it will be expensive, and with a third person one might need a bigger car.
  23. Likewise! We stayed at a place called the Edison Inn, literally just up the road from the finish. And the car rental option was also a good choice. Slightly more expensive than booking the bus transfer option, but far more degrees of freedom and mobility at the start and finish.
  24. My wife and I did our third Adventure and we were again blown away by the whole event - the vibe, the organisation, the route, the volunteers and the local communities. And the trail and weather conditions were perfect - surely not to be repeated anytime soon.
