  1. Is this the same Kayamandi outside which all the Stellenbosch bike-jackings happen? . Do the sponsors/organisers understand that Slum Tourism is frowned upon?
  2. "suppose there'e a reason why they sell Aston Martins at the waterfront and Kia's in Paarden Eiland." . There's an insight into marketing...
  3. Did not buy my bike there; don't know the guys from a bar of soap. Went in the original shop a few times as a noob/stranger and the okes were always helluva helpful and friendly, especially that oke with the 'tache. Total value of purchases each time was insignificant. . Mate of mine had his bike serviced there (bought elsewhere) and was very, very happy with the service. . But "Spez" + "Concept" is ALWAYS going to drag the haters out the woodwork.
  4. No mention of Strava or The Spruit?
  5. I own a thule and saris bikeracks. Thule all the way.
  6. what's the point of this thread if you cannot BUY the product anywhere? . why not sell it online - sites like supplementworld.co.za deliver GREAT service and prices
  7. this is from pinkbike . go read the comments about how unsafe tourists feel in SA at http://www.pinkbike.com/news/trail-daze-paarl-south-africa-2015.html . So sad. "Just got back from a 3 month trip to Cape Town a couple of days ago. I've traveled a lot before, and Cape Town was by far the most beautiful place I have ever been. But I disliked the mountainbiking possiblities coming there as an outsider. Since it is too dangerous to ride the mountains alone or with only a couple of people, and it was nearly impossible to find people to ride with. So my only options were to pay for expensive tours or not to ride any trails. The tours might be nice, but since they are so expensive, it just doesn't give you the freedom of riding outside every week, since that is not affordable. Mountainbiking in the Cape Town area must be perfect when you're a local who's part of a big group of riders who meet up regularly. But coming as an outsider it is very hard to get into this and you have pretty much no possibilities to ride when you come alone. Not even speaking that if you don't own a car there is no possible way to get to any of the trails. Trains are too dangerous, and so is riding to the trails alone (since you always have to go through sketchy areas). Even if it's just 20-25km away like Tokai and Contermanskloof. Even though my trip to Cape Town was probably my most amazing trip, I'm really happy to be back in Europe and have my safety again."
  8. It sounds odd using topical cream for sinuses but the Bactroban on earbud up nostril trick works for MRSA (the hospital superbug), so it should work for most sinus issues/infections. This method is recommended treatment for MRSA, in conjunction with anti-b body scrubs. It worked like a treat for my sinus infections. Flushing with saline is what every ENT recommends. Please note that I am NOT a doctor.
  9. imagine you go all the way to oman to do a stage race...and all you hear are South African accents...
  10. "Shimano Di2 users can take further advantage of the unit’s capabilities and sync this with their drivetrain to display information such as battery status and current gear selection." . That's COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL !!!!!
  11. Well, his missus did INSTRUCT him to go do something useful with his bike skills...
  12. I wanna be able to ride like that...
  13. DROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL...........
  14. Because the trails in the Gauteng are rubbish...
  15. "Stephen Kotze of England"....
  16. Congratulations to MTN-Qhubeka !
  17. Do you struggle to get the WTB's on a rim? I couldn't manage by myself and my LBS also said they struggled. Love the tyres but worried about being caught with a problem on the trail with them...
  18. Just a WARNING about WTB tyres - they are IMPOSSIBLE to get on the rim without at least 2 sets of hands. I gave up with mine and took them to my LBS, which also struggled like hell to get them back on the rim. I am considering changing my tyres, as there's NO WAY i'd be able to fit a tube on my own on the trail.
