  1. You're a flippen genius. Cranked up the nm and it clicked immediately! Thanks okes.
  2. I have the UD mountain vest 4, and to be honest I don't really like it. I find it less usable-friendly than my ancient old Salomon one. I had my eyes on a new Salomon ADV skin 12, but I don't reeeeally need it... Also I've just been running with a soft flask in my hand and it's not as inconvenient as it sounds. So I'll prob shelf the slimmer pack plan as a burst of online buying blood to the head.
  3. Lekker, thanks for reply. I didn't try any higher, I'll keep playing with it
  4. I bought the Axis set the other day. But for the life of me I can't get it to 'click' over at any torque setting. I've tried tightening just about everything on my bike and short of stripping every bolt I can't get it to click over, even at 2nm. Anyone else had a problem like this? Am I missing something (obvious)?
  5. Haha no jokes I was just looking that thing up the other day. I got chatting to someone last weekend about wanting a smaller vest for short runs where I just need water and some chow and whatnot, and he suggested that 2 in 1. So for the big boy races you strap on the back and then its a full-on vest, and for longer chilled runs you remove it and just use it as a lightweight vest. I haven't seen it in real life yet, so I'm not keen on saying anything definitive, but I'm pretty certain the back (mesh) bottom pocket is enough space to stick a jacket and something small.
  6. Wow! k*k place to live
  7. The Iron Cowboy James Lawrence's next challenge... he's aiming to do 100 ironmans in 100 days, starting 1 March.
  8. Side note: who I saw has had to close temporarily because their roads/bridges (I forget what exactly) were washed away with the big rains last week.
  9. Nor vigorous posing
  10. Keep the pics coming, that bike is outrageous! I laughed when the team unveiled all the garb, but damn, she fine.
  11. I'm no mtb'er so I've never been here, but what about Modderfontein?
  12. Ahhhhh... Flippen MacGyver here!
  13. How's the new diet going?
  14. I did some hill sprints this morning, maxed out at 3:10 a km. Which granted was uphill but I still thought was a pretty hectic speed. My short legs and heart agreed. I've just now worked out, that a huge amount of pro marathon runners not once during an entire 42kms run as slowly as my absolute max from today. 3:10 avg is 'only' a 2h13 marathon. It's absolutely mind-bogglingly staggering.
  15. That beer bread yes, but the other fresh breads no. We went through a phase of home made sour dough though.. ancient starter and all, during lockdown. but we never really got it to work. So it went in the bin. Now we just buy it.
  16. Personally, there's nothing better than fresh crusty bread. We always have a loaf around at home. 2 nights ago for example, we had spag bol, and a beer bread - just because... ????????‍♂️
  17. This would have been a very different conversation if Jaws were a taxi or any other less aware motorist who timed the traffic light better and smoked those two idiots in the intersection. In absolutely zero circumstance in joburg at least should you walk, run or cycle across a road without looking behind, in front, sideways, on the pavement before swinging across.
  18. Invisible bike stand? ????
  19. If you can't sell them and can afford to give them away, maybe find a running shop or club to donate them to. They often give them to chaps who can't afford much. You know then they'll find a good home for many millions of kms. Edit; and sorry about your bad knees situation. ????
  20. I was going to respond to your post from yesterday that one can indeed veg on the couch and stuff your face with cake no matter the weather, and then have a little brag about the blazing sunshine we were seeing in Joburg. Luckily I didn't, because the final 4kms of my run later that afternoon was in one of Joburgs typically cataclysmic hail and thunder storms. It was actually hilarious. I must have been quite a sight.
  21. Found 3 of these hiding in the back of the cupboard when we were searching for wrapping paper the other day. I reckon they've been there for maybe 3 years. Christmas indeed! Very nice red blend from De Toren. (Silly font though)
  22. I think the only thing I would suggest would be to get a second opinion from a sports specific surgeon/doc, or even better one who is 'sporty' themselves, then at least they can understand your frustrations better than anyone else. To be honest though I was secretly hoping no one would reply to your post with anecdotal advise because this sounds like something you should not be playing games with. But dammit.. Lexx's reply was heavy, and I thought hit the nail on the head in that its very much a personal decision with yourself initially, and importantly your family, based on the best knowledge you have. Its also (I believe) not a one-and-done. Bodies, science and treatments change every day.
  23. The best part of today was the clip of Alonso's old car singing its way around the track, what a stunning noise. Otherwise the rest of this rubbish has been horrendously boring
  24. Agreed. I'm all for second hand. But jeepers there are some sharks in that industry. It takes a long time, and a big wallet, to get on the good side of a dealer.
  25. Nah, the investment bit is just a nice-to-have to be honest. I love watches for all the other intangibles, and would wear them all. Edit: the only reason I wouldn't wear a watch- like Rolex for example, is it's getting almost comical how quickly you'll get held up for it. Which is desperately sad.
