  1. It had to happen eventually.... carbon fibre enters trail running shoes The North Face Vectiv https://www.thenorthface.com/vectiv
  2. That's a real cool looking bug. Jeepers, you guys did some stellar work there. Good job
  3. I'm dying to try one of these types of events. But we're probably going to give Addo a go, and thats a week, two weeks (?) afterwards, so I probably won't do this one. Made a note of the website though.
  4. Side mount? (Half joking) 2 removable arms from underneath the door/chassis, attach to the usual looking roof mount unit (Thule freeride type thing). You and the old man sound pretty handy. Beetle is small enough to navigate traffic lane widths with a bike riding alongside surely...
  5. Especially if you put some Hella spotlights on the front of the rack. It'll look very Baja
  6. I didn't know people took pre-workout for cycling, unless you really are THAT tired, in which case maybe your body is trying to tell you something... Agreed on the stimulants so late in the day, it's not ideal and depending on how sensitive you are to it it could ruin your sleep. Some of us though do get used to it over a long enough time so worst case it could be worth experimenting with. They're mostly filled with similar ingredients, and all filled with superfluous marketing so just pick a flavor you like. It's not like any of them are 'good' for you anyway. What about joining an indoor class type thing in the evening? A little competitive edge always gets the blood going.
  7. Short of someone coming with a real life useful answer... The Cango Marathon (I just checked) is in Feb, one: I've heard amazing things about it, two: go lurk around IF (big if) it goes ahead and I'm sure you can spy some club gazebos etc
  8. I think you hit post before finishing your point here. Surely... shirley, this isn't it?
  9. I was actually going to write her down too, so ja I agree she was a huge part. But did she time rising mma popularity perfectly to make herself famous, and then head off elsewhere and lose it all along the way. Or did she herself make mma 'famous'? If you see what I mean. dunno
  10. It happens man. Some people just capture the masses and bring eyes to the (fringe) sports. Floyd sort of did it for boxing, although that sport has had a few good characters. Lance did it for cycling. Bolt did it for athletics. Alex Honnold climbing. Phelps swimming. McGregor certainly did it for mma.
  11. (Just looking at these examples above) What about trying to sub out the mince for black beans in the wraps, maybe the fajitas, or even add a taco meal in (similar theme?). Black beans can get super 'jammy' if you whack them in a pan, some seasoning, or try get that refried bean texture almost. Our go-to meals when we're min on effort and time but max on enjoyment is tacos or wraps. Guac, salsa/pico/jalapenos, some greens, black beans, maybe brown rice.. magic. The other thing you can try experiment with is oven roasted lentils, chickpeas, or cannellini beans. Add one of those to your existing meals and see if you can work that in for your protein choice. (If you still actively think of meals as needing you know the ubiquitous x amount of protein and x carbs etc) Sometime we just fill a tray of olive oil and balsamic drizzled veg and either or both of the above, leave it in the oven for an age... delicious. Curry? Very easy to keep veg, plenty authentic recipes are veg regardless. Burgers - the only reasonable way is to find the fake meat substitute I think. Theres one or two of the plant-based patties that I've enjoyed but mostly they're tasteless and stodgy. Pizza - will be a challenge if chorizo or pepperoni is your highlight. We for the first time scattered the innards of a beyond sausage on our last pizza and it was really good, but I could leave it to be honest. Artichokes, olives, mushrooms, roast garlic, sweet or hot peppers, will always be my first choices now. But yes it can take some adventurous testing. That was a hellova long way to say I don't have a recipe book recommendation, we just search the internet for a recipe that sounds good if its something new we want to try. If I may also ask, why did you decide to try this change, or contemplate it in the first place?
  12. Of course Bernie was there too
  13. Muradov brought the haymaker. Chandlers fists though, good grief they're deadly
  14. That was incredible, Jim is a proper freak, I mean what can you even say about 12 secs, that's spectacular. the most amazing thing for me were his splits - the entire 100kms he remained within 3:40 and 3:42 a km. Staggering... Edgar your champ did well, shame it just so happened I switched on to check in at 5 hours just as she was being passed by the flying Tanguy. Cool event.
  15. Ja and probably a few years old too, most of the new Pepsi's seem to all be on the jubilee bracelet. The bezel freaks me out. My OCD can't handle it ...
  16. This is just brilliant
  17. Minister knobbag here wearing my favorite watch. Sigh...
  18. When you look at all those short course names in a row - thats a real bomb squad of heros, wow. I hope hope Josh Amberger brings his decals dude from Felt, his bike was always my highlight of the bike p*rn page at Kona
  19. Theres a tracker called Spot. I've seen lots of trail runners use them because they work anywhere and everywhere. It GPS tracks you, can send out location updates, can send out pre-programmed messages I think, and an SOS message to a list of whomever you input.
  20. Maybe you expect too little from second hand bikes?
  21. I had to double-take where you live. (I always assume people here are in SA) Thats awesome, ja she got the record. Likes a long run that one.
  22. 9am Eastern Time... so... 4pm (I think)
