  1. Interesting, what happens to the insert? Does it become pliable - in which case I suppose you just have a 'normal old' type shoe again. Or does it become brittle - then I'd be worried about it snapping
  2. How does the shoe look? Has the sole been scraped / worn away anywhere? Is it coming apart at the toe? Is the foam collapsing? Is she a 'light' runner and they look brand new still? I'm sure they could easily do double the distance if they still feel in good shape. (Sorry, general view, I don't know these shoes specifically)
  3. Hows the hand? and ribs (was it?)
  4. Fuji Newest! My first bike
  5. You're a flippen genius. Cranked up the nm and it clicked immediately! Thanks okes.
  6. Good grief! I feel this isn't really the time to bring up the obvious about the spruit, and going to hospital, but that's freaking awful. Sorry to your boy, that's awful. And mostly shame on the POS who rode off. That's inexcusable no matter what
  7. I have the UD mountain vest 4, and to be honest I don't really like it. I find it less usable-friendly than my ancient old Salomon one. I had my eyes on a new Salomon ADV skin 12, but I don't reeeeally need it... Also I've just been running with a soft flask in my hand and it's not as inconvenient as it sounds. So I'll prob shelf the slimmer pack plan as a burst of online buying blood to the head.
  8. Lekker, thanks for reply. I didn't try any higher, I'll keep playing with it
  9. I bought the Axis set the other day. But for the life of me I can't get it to 'click' over at any torque setting. I've tried tightening just about everything on my bike and short of stripping every bolt I can't get it to click over, even at 2nm. Anyone else had a problem like this? Am I missing something (obvious)?
  10. Haha no jokes I was just looking that thing up the other day. I got chatting to someone last weekend about wanting a smaller vest for short runs where I just need water and some chow and whatnot, and he suggested that 2 in 1. So for the big boy races you strap on the back and then its a full-on vest, and for longer chilled runs you remove it and just use it as a lightweight vest. I haven't seen it in real life yet, so I'm not keen on saying anything definitive, but I'm pretty certain the back (mesh) bottom pocket is enough space to stick a jacket and something small.
  11. Wow! k*k place to live
  12. I can't remember where it was, petrol station or shop or some sorts, but a chap approached us and he was wearing one of those valved masks. But the valve was removed. And so there was just an open hole through to the side of his mouth. He reminded us of that two-face character from the batman movie. It seemed a typically 'South African attempt' moment.
  13. A win for the earth. Trump has for a long time been working to get oil drilling okayed in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, he was successful too. However the turnout didn't play along. Whether the oil reserves were not in fact rich enough, environmentalism, conscience, or whatever I don't really care, but the majority of the land will go unscathed for a little while longer. https://www.npr.org/2021/01/06/953718234/major-oil-companies-take-a-pass-on-controversial-lease-sale-in-arctic-refuge
  14. The Iron Cowboy James Lawrence's next challenge... he's aiming to do 100 ironmans in 100 days, starting 1 March.
  15. Ja but then you'll have to get in an obligatory fight too
  16. Side note: who I saw has had to close temporarily because their roads/bridges (I forget what exactly) were washed away with the big rains last week.
  17. Nor vigorous posing
  18. Stella!
  19. Keep the pics coming, that bike is outrageous! I laughed when the team unveiled all the garb, but damn, she fine.
  20. Over Dec I prob ran in the spruit almost every time I ran from home. Last week I had to start running on the roads again for obvious reasons. Today I realized a problem... Joburg is filling up again and traffic even round the burbs is picking up quickly. Not taking away from the above commentary it would be nice to get the old lady back in action. I hate running on busy roads.
  21. I'm no mtb'er so I've never been here, but what about Modderfontein?
  22. Jeepers. That's rough. I assume no injuries but that's mega PTSD sounding . Shame
  23. Ja, it's a voucher too so it's not really 'real' money anyway. We'll just put them back in the rainy day cupboard for when who knows what happens or we just eventually give them away.
  24. To be fair.. I wouldn't be surprised. The amount of people I see who walk around on a call - but with it on speaker and talking at the phone held in front of them, as opposed to normal humans who hold it up to their ears. I see as many people shouting at the top of the phone as the bottom. So maybe I'm the idiot ????????‍♂️
  25. We went passed the Sandton Apple store this weekend. To see about getting rid of two old phones. iPhone 8, post Apple diagnostics test she says to us the mic in the top of the phone (and points to where the speaker is that you listen through) is broken. Wife says no, the phone was 100% working when she had upgraded. Anyway, that reduces the value of trade in from R4000 to R1000! I laughed. Out loud. Also I didn't know there were multiple mics on a phone. iPhone 6 (I think) , after running test, she shows us the screen and says - see the yellowness at the bottom of the screen - we both squint hard and reply no. Trade in value R276. We left. 2 spare phones intact.
