  2. My Garmin Edge 705 is 3 months old. when i ride on a hot day, and the screen is in direct sunlight, condensation forms inside on the screen. When its not in direct sunlight heat there is no sign of moisture. I have been caught in the rain once or twice, but its a bike computer. its never been dunked in water. Does anybody know if its a problem, or if i shouldnt woory about it. Or if there is a way to dry it?
  3. its not hard to get definate answers to this mystery... you need a power meter.. ride at a set power, say 250 watts. First ride up a climb with heavy wheels, then up the same climb holding the exact same watts with the light wheels.... that will tell the diference... Would be interesting to do the same over a few different terain examples?? I guess this is how they come to the numbers when they talk about "deep aero wheels" are "40sec faster" over 20 km flat course..??
  4. leave engineering to the Japs, and Germans gardening to the rest of us!!! you know what i mean!!!
  5. If you gona use examples of where you "think" people are cheating.... dont attach names to it, rather just post the example without the name... there are names here being accused of "cheating" and are toally inocently going about their ride... The name gets incorrectly associated with the cheating... beware... its like crying rape!!! How would you feel?
  6. i'm sure i heard Greg say on Supercycling, that Gee Atherton was joining them next year.
  7. Its says "Geomangear" recalled it because it didnt meet "their" quality. they are probably a company marketing top end stuff.
  8. soft is goooood... but watch out for varying pump readings. i'v got 2 pumps, when the one reads 2,5 bar, the other reads 1,8 bar??? i just go by feel now... squishy!!
  9. rallepela comes onto the field on saturday, and throws 2 waywood lineouts?? and they took off the best hooker in the world?? SARU orders i guess??
  10. I dont mean they behave like "Crit racers". What i meant is, the guys should go set up some crit racing on sundays, to stay out of the craddle. I think its dangerous there.
  11. This craddle area sounds unsafe to ride bikes. I have seen all these threads on the hub about it, and i think you owes need to find a carpark, and race criteriums around it on sundays. Someones gona get killed. We just had an owe shot dead in the back down here in KZN last week.
  12. When you finished washing, tip the bike up on the back wheel, or even upsidedown, and make sure all water comes out of the frame. other wise it sits in a puddle at your BB. Also, get the chain cleaned and spray it with WD40 before it starts rusting. You can run it through a towel, and relube it with proper lube when you have time, or before your next ride. WD40 (WD stands for water displacement)
  13. is that a timing chip on her left ankle?
  14. it is what you used to... i had sram triggers for 2 years, then gripshift for 18 months, now been on XT triggers for 6 months.... liked all of them. On the triggers, i much prefer the shimano "2 way release" to the sram triggers. Come to think of it, i dont think i will ride grip shift again???
  15. I hope its some mistake aswell, but the fact that there is a name, age, kinda make me think its for real.
  16. i mean... just look at that pic, the bike is so stable its balancing itself!!!
  17. All i can say to you intern.. is get a 29er,, then tell me you would rather go back to a 26... personally, i hope people stay on their 26ers... just meens i can keep beating them!!
  18. American classics use normal spokes, so if you break one, anybody can fix. I'v never had the mavics, but i had american classics on my 26er for 2 years. i bought them for racing, and loved them so much did all my riding on them! they never missed a beat, now i'v got 29er and saving for AC 29er wheels. BYW i weigh about 80 aswell
  19. Are you refering to a carbon frame, or carbon bits and pieces? if you can afford the difference, go for the carbon frame. Not because its light, or stiff... bla bla.. BUT it has a more comfortable ride. the carbon absorbs road vibration.
  20. milking cream all the way.... my cousins a dairy farmer, and he gives it to me!!! its got anti-bacterial stuff, moisturiser stuff... all the stuff assos should have!!! He got me onto it when we were lighty's on family beach holiday's.... ya.. the ones when you run around in wet baggies for days, untill you get "Doubies rash down to your knee's!!!! milking cream sorts it all out...
  21. As the old rugby saying goes....."you'r only as good as your last final"... well done sharks..... best running rugby i'v watched in a while!!!!
  22. Why do they try re-write the book...... all they need to do is look at what works in the successful cycling nations, and go from there? Forget age, just go Cat 1,2,3.... Spidey,, from what i can gather, i'm in your boat? 30+ vet, can race at the front, even scratch a top 3 possition now and then , ..... but i dont have team, just club?? so i guess its "open seeded" here we come!!!
  23. yes.. i know, but its time they stepped into the big league. With a system that alows for quick wheel changes?
  24. Velo... i'v got no doubt the product will be superb.... but surely cassettes and deraillers can go..... i mean, the engineering in cycling equipment is beautiful, and briliant, but chains and cogs are archaic.. time for something revolutionary.
  25. My feeling is that this is all marketing driven crap to make a simple mechanical operation electric.... i wish they would concentrate on real development,,, like internal rear hub gearing, belt drive..... no more chains, deraillers, cassettes..... imagine...
