  1. nice one fandacious... i like a owe who can take a few chirps, and give out a few.. good humour!! But you were getting quite excited in a few other threads!!!
  2. i'm not interested in Jan or Fuentes's book... hell.. i'm waiting for Fandacious's book to hit the shelves!!!!
  3. sicklyist individual ever seen on a bike has to be michael rassmussen... remember those pics that went around with all his freckles on his body?!!! i'd like to know what his hight to weight ratios was? i must say, some of the best TDF stages i can remember watching were contador and rassmussen attacking each other on the climbs in '07 i think?
  4. I'm not retired, and have a full time job... but have somehow found myself at home on the couch in front of the TV every afternoon!!! Jeees... this is bad?
  5. Just confirm mintsauce, is this cycling related numbness!!!
  6. that jockey wheel caused him untold greef yesterday!!
  7. just so everyone can see he's riding "red"!!!
  8. "its not about the bike"!!! , or the tennis racket!!
  9. what are the early morning temperatures like down there on your rides? Here, just up the hill from durbs its about 6 degrees at worst and average about 12-14 i suppose?
  10. AC may win 7, but not in a row.... he will have hickups along the way...
  11. Lance winning 7 tours in a row is incredible. Drugs or no drugs can win 7 tours. There are so many variables that will take you out of that race ie. crash, stomach bug, useless team, ill timed puncture.... nothing can make up for those variables... He could have been drugged to the hilt, and only won 1. What won him those tours was his absolute professionalism. Look at the teams he had around him. Look at his attention to bunch possition ever km of the tour. And obviously incrediable athletic ability, just look at his pedagree, i meen he won leadville 100 during his 3 year retirement (call him an amature)!!!! By the way, i thinks he's clean... dopping for so many years would have kiled him by now!!!
  12. ya... that takes the cake!!! just the right colours and lines.. and best of all... shimano shifting
  13. i'v noticed shimano cassetes and chains etc. have come right down in price these last few months. New ultegra cassette is cheaper than 105 last year????
  14. i'm not sure of all the details, but i'v been riding my 540's for 4 years now, and they still 100's.. i think the XT's are the same, just branded XT to match group set.... personally i prefer the non-series stuff/price.
  15. What i dont understand is, guys have enough time to sit on the hub and complain, but no time to learn to work on our own bike?? there is only one solution to these threads.... work on your own bike!!! it actually easy, just slowly build up your tool box...
  16. i'v ordered a jersey.. pretty sure they are knock off's... cause all the different teams etc, are exact sizing and material... they knock off top brands too, like Pearl Izumi ( not only team gear ). I ordered last week, will keep you posted..
  17. There is no cover plate for that XT model. but you can take off the indicator, and make a duct tape cover. i did it and it was hundreds for 2 years.... infact its still 100's, but lying in a spares box!!
  18. The chain was an Ultegra 6700... I paid R315 at LBS CRC = R188 postage = R110.45 15% at customs etc. = R28.20 Total = R326?? 2 week wait = priceless wrong goods arrive = priceless talk to your LBS
  19. I went into my LBS the other day, i picked up the chain i was needing, then realised it was the wrong one!! So i put i down and picked up the one next to it, this was the right one!! I paid my money and left?
  20. Which are really good all-round tyres? i'm want to run non tubeless, tubeless... you know what i mean?? Non tubeless for light weight, but tough enough to train and race?? is their a good option? ie. Crossmark or the likes
  21. i think the reason chain and cassette's remain the norm is that the racing pro's can change rear wheels on the fly when they puncture... thats the only thing i can think of. I would otherwise have thought this is seriously old technology and needs to change??? the other thing is, internally sealed gears would never wear out, killing a whole money making racket of high end bike parts!!!
  22. Asses the road ahead... if you think you can get to 55kph +... go for the out run option... if you cant get to that sort of speed, stop and challenge the animal!!!!
  23. i'v done about 10 transactions.. not one hickup, infact dealt with awsome guys. including selling a R13500 bike. I must say, i was comfortable with the guys i bought and sold to, as they had high post counts, and i was familiar with their "names"..
  24. I'v got the same, they are plenty warm enough, and available at most bike shops. I cant remember how what they cost? I'm up the hill from durb's, so cold gear isn't really our forte, but at 5 dgrees they are 100's...
