  1. Based on a quick search, colnago produced about 13500 bikes in 2004 compare this to only about 500 pegorettis that are produced a year. This will include a huge percentage of custom fits. ewep, I am not saying it is "bad" or "the individual bikes dont get the personal attention" just that it will skew the results. (in a way, it will even be good as the quality control might be way better than a single builder on his own) as far as I know, all of my daccordis are stock standard and not custom fit
  2. uhm, how many colnagos are made per year? I know it is not "mass produced" like giant, but it it not mass produced all the same = churned out like popcorn or like a sausage machine
  3. I have 6 daccordis, including a 50th aniversary frame. The marque is over 70 years old.
  4. ok all you orbea/felt/whatever junkies speak to your supplier to either advertise or donate goodies for competitions. moral of the story ... if you would like a nice cycling shirt/waterbottle/cycling bag to match your bike ... get the supplier to donate it ... you might be lucky enough to win it Hey, everyone would like to get a nice pair of carbon wheels, but they are expensive and there wont be a lot of them for all of us.
  5. Daccordi : http://www.daccordi-cicli.com/eng/index.html I have 6 of them
  6. must be merida/ralleigh/scott/BMC ... I have not seen a Cannondale/Felt/Bla bla bla whatever advert on the hub yet. speak to your supplier to either advertise on the hub, donate cycling goodies/swag for competitions ... or at the very least to at least participate here. Get their techie staff to help us and answer our questions! Johan Bornman regularly participate and advertise here ... WAY TO GO irrespective of what everyone thinbks of the tiff (where's the popcorn?) between Brandon and cwc, BOTH OF THEM SUPPORT AND ADVERTISE ON THE HUB. Many brands are being sold by businesses advertising here (scott, bmc, shimano, mavic, campag, etc) recently a retailer just posted their specials, no advertising or support of the hub, no participation Come on everyone, speak to your lbs, online retailer, local product agent, etc to support the hub, and we will support them
  7. the best bike is the one you are riding. irrespective of groupset, wheels , bling, etc
  8. how long can you store the bike before the sludge solidifies at the bottom in the wheel?
  9. depends on the age. Get the age of the bike first then you can join the mailing list at http://www.classicrendezvous.com/
  10. Dont PM Cruxpearl, he will only skew the result and you will think 90 % of bikes sold are cannondales dont PM bigH, he will let you believe all the bikes are ralleighs or rebranded ralleighs
  11. Veyron, spidey dont take chances, just buy a new handlebar annually. Send the old ones to me, i will dispose of them environmentally friendly ... put them on my bike
  12. scratches in the bar can also cause stress risers, causing it to fail prematurely - moral of the story - put in on very carefully
  13. imitation is the most sincere form of flattery

    Ouch!

well, if a guy on a one wheeled bike can catch a wheel ... watch out for the dogs in your street when your cycling. uhm, now that he "caught" it, whatcha gonna do with it
  15. oh, I see JB allready replied while I was phrasing my question
  16. coming back to the silver/black spokes hopw do they get the spokes silver. is it polished stainless, or chromed? Some chroming processes weaken the underlying material because the electroplating can cause hydrogen embrittlement. I also once wanted to get something chromed, and the company said that it need to be specially prepared/polished. wont this also remove extra material? How do they make the spokes black, through powdercoating? or how do they get the stuff to stick?
  17. because of the speed difference between black and silver spokes, it turned left really easy, and more difficult to the right would be perfect on a track bike going anti clockwise (which way do they go btw?) a bit more on-topic. I never had the need to balance wheels yet, and i once kept my lowracer going over 80 km/h for over 10 minutes on the m19 from pinetown into durban. I have to add that the front wheel is a 20 inch with hub brake.
  18. jy moes eintlik maar meer gereeld opgevolg het
  19. Unpainted frame without shipping starts at $2000. hey, if i was in that business, i can get that money for a paintjob and i've got spare capacity, i will also spam you once a month
  21. just as I thought the thread is going to die...
  22. Mine works out slap bang at 174.96 but personal choice (based on reasoning) I prefer a shorter crank (if I have a choice) as the knee has a smaller range of motion, and it is easier to spin. Instead of gear inches (which most of us know) Sheldon Brown prefers to talk about Gain ratio, which takes crank length into consideration http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gain.html as an aside: limitations on junior gearing does not take the crank length into consideration. is the limit to "protect" the juniors, or just as a way to standardise and equalise the field. If it is the first, shouldnt they look at crank length as well? (I am not sure if they do)
