Good post! When a person say "my LBS is the best", they do not know that there is plenty of other people out there that had a different experience with your preferred LBS. It comes down to how they handle the situation.

Dude, we not talking about drop outs here. We discussing why there is so many non-finishers after 2 days, the list is growing. I was a spectator at the 27km prologue, to see the "back markers" suffer on a 27km circuit I knew that a lot will not be able to survive stage 1. I have more respect for the back markers than the pro's! To go out and ride for 8 days 10 hours a day suffering...RESPECT!!!!

A good idea would be to tell what you aiming for, top 200, top 300 or just to make cut-off.

I am not "mocking" the guys not finishing, to last only for 2 days? I do understand a mechanical that is real bad but maybe people underestimate the event?

I see that list is growing by the day!!! After stage one there was a lot of riders that did not start or finish. Pretty expensive if you pop R37 000 and only ride 2 days. How do you manage to enter an event like this for that amount of $$$ and not be prepared enough?

The lesson for you is (drum roll)......do not ride behind truck, that is a danger place to ride...not just in Cape Town.

Agree, think for next year they must take the first 150 riders of this year and put them in the Elite bunch. My opinion about ladieszzzz crash...happens everywhere, that is racing! Tour de France have lots of crashes esp at the end. If you going to start the ladies on their own they going to go very slow and the Vets or A bunch will catch them eventually...so you going to end up with the same scenario for the sprint. The Vets that was left in that bunch is experienced enough to ride/race a bike so "lack of skill" was not the issue here.

I think our crash in Elite bunch on Hospital bend was almost as bad as the Ladieszzzz bunch...it was a real tense ride.

It is just amazing how some people can just see good things in a bad way! Frikkin hel...Cycle Lab got Fikile out there to ride and create drug free sports! Threy had road closure so they will not be irresponsible. Cool way to get cycling more involved and create awareness!!!

who cares about the money...great event...great vibe...true test to see how hard you can go for 200km. What makes this event great is that it is something different. I personally think JHB must get the same event up there...only problem is that they do not have a safe 200km stretch!

just wondering now...the lightest wheels is not the stiffest wheels? Go a bit heavier but stiffer?
