  1. This place never fails to amaze me... A person put's a very nice post about a very informative evening about nutrition. The the all mighty "hub experts" always find a way of slating a good thing into something negative. Shyte man...most of you here all ride short and medium route options in races, now you want to come here and make the people doing a bit of effort a headache.
  2. Aaahhhh...MTB'ers...the friendly people who is always chilled and wave to everyone.
  3. man...i ride my bike because i love the outdoors, being with mates and have good coffee. I do race some of the popular races to keep the mojo going, if I am sick or not feeling well I will take the medicine needed to get me healthy again so that I can ride (not race) my bike again ASAP. Why the hell must I go and check every single supplement/medicine/drink I take? Do not care if I finish in bunch or not.
  4. So if some shops advertise a "pair of glasses" for free I see it as one but some other people see it as 2 set of glasses I can go and tune false advertising? Different people different way of speaking, I personally think it is not intentionally, but hey go for it. What I say here is before you go and make out that people are trying to shaft you make sure that maybe it is the way they see the meaning of a set" vs your meaning of a "set"
  5. Common guys...it depends on the way you read it. Every person will see it different, I see the advertisement correctly some other will read it the other way. For some it might be misleading and other not...no need to tune "Consumer Commissioner would have a field day with this" because you will just make your name "gat".
  6. No...only you.
  7. If Cycling were only allowed 16 athletes I would have taken a few out of track athletes and add a road team, we really have chance there! Do not know how selection works but that is how I would have thought they would go. Maybe the road guys like Impey, Meintjies did not make themselves available for selection?
  8. Then another guy cracked his MTB frame and got a new frame shipped to him within 2 weeks.
  9. Correct...Rookie question No idea about TT bikes, I know my road and MTB.
  10. That is why I am asking ...weight does not play such a "big" role when it comes to a TT bike, but there is a stage where you have the correct balance between weight and aero. No use you have a heavy TT bike cause your legs will feel it after a while.
  11. Rookie question... What is a good weight for a TT bike? We take +-7kg as a good weight for a competitive road bike at reasonable price. A 10kg MTB hard-tail is a very good racing weight at also a reasonable price. What would a reasonable competitive TT bike weigh? To make it easier...what would a top-end TT bike weigh, middle-end and lower-end? Thanks!!
  12. Very social event and one of those family getaway weekends, will be there this year!!
  13. Rabon joined Sauser in December, few of the Stellenbosch MTB'ers joined Sauser's training ride and did the MTB Four Passes route. There was a very technical section where Sauser told him that he must be careful and they will wait for him at the bottom...Sauser hooked it down the technical section and when he was at the bottom Rabon was right behind him. That is where he made his decision to give Rabon invite. Only made official early Jan that Rabon will join Sauser in Epic Some of the guys that rode with said Rabon is a "natural" MTB'er. Obviously he can improve a lot with his current skill, but he is more than capable of riding with the best in marathon races. XO would be different though...his face said it all at the prologue!! ** I think the MTB'er a bit jealous that a roadie can pitch up and give the hardcore MTB'ers a bit of a go! **
  14. You know about 8 months in advance if you going to ride the Epic, train a bit harder, eat less shyte and you will arrive easily 90min before cut-off. This will give you sufficient time to take a shower eat and recover. To say the guys at the back deserves a lot more credit....no they do not. Bigger medals should be given to the guys in the middle of the pack or more to the front who is a "normal" working person", he most properly sacrificed a lot more sleep time, family time, etc than your slogger at the back. Most of the back markers usually train the minimum to make the cut-off eg. "I am not going to do 5 hours today because I have 10 hours to finish" Everyone who rides the Epic try their best in their capacity to achieve the goal to finish Epic. If you want to take the whole day to finish the stage then you need to deal with the shyte afterwards. P.S - I have done Epic, know a lot of people that has done it including middle and back markers.
  15. I thought Epic entries are limited?
  16. Would follow this topic close.... I see an amateur/funrider as a person who works full time and cycling is not a priority in terms of responsibility, this will mean he is actually employed full time working a full day. Most of our "pro's" considering themselves non-pro's...their "work" fall into their training programs/time slots. The "amateur" rider: I am no pro...I work dude! Me: but you train till 10AM and home by 16:00 to rest? The "amateur" rider: but I still work Me: You travel to all the races how do you manage to get all the leave days? The "amateur" rider: My work is very flexible and allow me to train Me: So you basically a pro that works for a hobby? The "amateur" rider: No way man, I work everyday from 10AM to 14:00. In the Western Cape I see Mr Davies and Mr Garrett as the two best amateurs. Very talented riders!!
  17. Rookie mistake....anyway hope you get your bike back!
  18. One weather forecast say rain with moderate wind...the other one say no clouds and gale force wind.
  19. The name sounds like a Spur restuarant...
  20. Would have loved to come and watch!! CAT2 this season had some positive HARD racing.
  21. Glad they use CURRENT races...some people demand that they use last year's Argus time and races they did well over 7-8 months ago. You can get very unfit in a year!!
  22. AuctionLamb

    Argus 2014

Another one topping the list is....the week before Argus everyone get's the flu. In case you ride a k@k time you have an excuse.
  23. daar is 'n rede hoekom ander bike shops vol is...en ander nie so besig nie
  24. EISH! the road going from Paar towards the finish is narrower than the 99er back roads with no yellow line....plus short route joining up with long route. Do not know why the organizers cannot learn from other peoples mistakes, this is def a no go and think insurance companies will start excluding certain races with logic like this. This race always use to be my fav race. P.S - Please read the route before entering!!
