Well...if I earned my salary in dollars then there was absolutely no problem paying $90 for a race. Do not compare dollars if you earn in ZAR. What you need to do is take your salary multiply it by seven then you ask the person if they would be happy to pay R670 for a race.

I had a 29er...sold it after 6 months. Climbing sucks on it, the only positive thing about them is FROM MY EXPERIENCE is if you go and ride nice open roads.

Thought the same...29er better on technical sections...Burry only one with the 29er and fell twice on the technical section.

I go to a well known grocery store close to my house, I buy groceries every week so at the end of the month I spend a few ZAR there. After a while I ask if I can get a cash discount, she looked at me funny and laughed. Went to the store manager asked him about getting discount because I am loyal and spend a lot of money at his store...I got a weird looking face expression. Not good service in my eyes...

If CSA want big sponsors to come on board to help cycling then they must give a better show than this. Sponsors look at how these races get organised and see if it is feasible to sponsor. By the looks of it...no sponsor will come on board till next year.

The IRON MAN race is very well sponsored, so if you look at that way your entry fee should be R10 because the amount of sponsorship money that goes into the race. Those sponsor money would most prob cover all the costs for the race to be organized PLUS prize money. This is what the topic is about... R4000 for a goody bag, pasta party...

I was driving on Sunday on the N1 and waved at this guy in a Silver Polo 1.6....did not wave back. I just think these Polo drivers is full of themselves! Taxi drivers is mostly friendly...always waves back!!! FACT!

For any retail company or company involved in retail to close middle Dec/beginning Jan, is basically the same for a restaurant to close lunch time every day. Busiest time for them but they close...

and you got sorted out. What I am talking about is this topic went from your issue to middle man to online shops to LBS to service your own bike to.... Just hope 2011 will be more positive...we can already see that some wholesalers is coming to the party, giving better prices so that the LBS can be MORE competitive. I just think in general (diving, cycling, cars) if the wholesalers refuses to drop prices or pick up their service levels in line with other competitors they will not survive in the near future.

Loved the race!!! It is really a privilege to ride with a bunch of potential guys like that. It was a great team effort from Daikin. The different teams that got the pro riders (Anderson Transport, Daikin and Cape Town Market) makes other events jealous with the names riding. Most "fun rides" in SA would love to see these international riders (Haselbacher and Froome) pitch up. Well done to all the teams!! Cape Town surely got the best cycling events in SA!!!
