  1. This is the video I watched 4 years ago which convinced me to go tubeless. This is my experience with Orange Seal for 4 years. Since I haven't been able to get hold of it I can tell you from personal experience that Stan's (normal and race), Sludge and Joe's (normal and road) will not seal those holes at anything over 70psi.
  2. Sealant for road and MTB are two completely different things
  3. Not true, have had a dose of regular Orange Seal in my tyres for at least 4/5 months. I normally change the tyre before the sealant dries up
  4. That's great news.I put Joe's normal sealant in my front tyre and checked what it looked like after 2 months... the tyre was completely dry inside. I had zero issues with Orange Seal balling up or drying out after 6 months. That was the case with the original formula and the endurance variant. Maybe it helps that I use the bike 3/4 times a week so it is constantly flushing around the inside of the tyre
  5. I had a chance to test Joe's road sealant this weekend. It claims to seal tyres up to 120psi... it doesn't. I pump my tyres to 80psi, I had a small 1mm staple in my tyre and it only stopped leaking air at 60psi and happily finished my ride. I topped up the sealant when I got home last night and pumped up to 80psi. I left the punctured side of the tyre facing down where all the sealant collects. Came down this morning to find the tyre at 40psi with a puddle of sealant on the floor. My claim stands, Orange Seal is the only way to go. If only it was available in SA
  6. ...ans did you at least manage to spray them enough to disable them temporarily or couldn't you see well enough
  7. Glad you're OK. I have to ask (and don't take this as a negative criticism) but didn't you think about turning around rather than go straight for them?
  8. LOL, I hope so too!Joe's road sealant does look promising, they claim it is suitable for pressures up to 130psi!!! I don't believe that but 80psi will be just fine. I will go out and look for glass this weekend and report back
  9. I'm just kidding with you but I have used Stan's with no joy because I couldn't get Orange seal over here. Friends of mine have also used it and went back to tubes because it makes an awful mess when it sprays everywhere. Orange Seal peels of cleanly with just a finger
  10. The problem with using MTB sealant on road tyres is that is doesn't really work and it's given road tubeless a bad rap. People would rather change tubes on the side of the road. I'm using tubeless if not for the convenience, then also for the safety factor. I feel like a sitting duck changing tubes in certain areas. Using proper road sealant means the tyre is normally sealed while you're still moving. I have had many punctures where the pressure has only dropped from 85psi to 80psi and fixed while still rolling. That was with Orange Seal. Sludge and Stans were useless and very messy. I now have Joe's road sealant but haven't had a puncture to test it
  11. Not sure if you work for Stan's (LOL) but it only seals pressures up to 40 to 50psi so not at all suitable for road tyres
  12. Based on what the team mechanics and the riders said last year. They even use the X-light version of the F12 frame on the rime brake bike. I'm sure Froome has the option to use the O2 VAM rim bike on a mountain stage.
  13. It would be far cheaper for the seller to refund the money. He won't have to swap out cranks, the FD was already cracked. The only sticking point is the RD which they can agree to split 50/50. Both parties will be out a R2000 and move on
  14. Pinarello still use rim brake bikes because they can't get close to the 6.8kg limit with discs
  15. The seller said voetstoots so you instantly know who you're dealing with
  16. I still think the seller should take the bike back. No need to swap out cranks and FD etc. Just take the bike back and don't hide behind voetstoots. I got my back up the moment you mentioned it. It will cost the buyer the price of shipping and it will cost the seller whatever to fix the RD. His 'friend' tested the bike, the actual seller didn't test the bike so he cannot know that it wasn't working
  17. The OP did nothing wrong and should have been refunded in full.
  18. Gear Change in Mowbray... more than just a simple bike fit
  19. That was a hilarious fail. I can't believe they even had that much time to fart about
  20. MP Custom Valve in Cape Town have very very very good prices on the non boost Ohlins. They are the Ohlins importer for SA for motorbikes and bicycles 021 551 8844
  21. Red Hill has always been very quiet, almost a calm vibe around there. I have always felt safe. As for the rest of Cape Town.... forget about riding before 6:30am alone at the moment.
  22. Wow, I want to say its unbelievable but it's not anymore. Where did the video footage come from?
  23. Most of these incidents are happening early morning while the roads are quiet. These guys aren't on tik, they're just your basic tbeif who has found an easy target
  24. Did this happen at 4:30am? I'm up and down that stretch 4 times a week
  25. I have quite a few bikes but this is my pride and joy. I rebuilt it myself from the crank up. 1992 RGV 250 but 40kg lighter and a CBR1000RR complete front end and an racing shock in the rear. Currently wearing the softest, stickies tyres Pirelli SC0's
