  1. Indeed, I cycled in the opposite direction by myself at 6:30am on the same day. I use the main road at that time of the morning although it was also very quiet
  2. Bloody hell, I go past there 3 times a week, alone. I always try to ride amongst the cars and taxis when going past the stretch from the N1 turn to Gympie Street. Easy to do later in the day with more traffic
  3. What would you like your medal to be made of for a R200 entry fee?
  4. They stopped replying to emails mid conversation so I haven't ordered anything from them in more than 2 years
  5. They have a saddle for R8500 to go with your R650 innersoles
  6. Ahhhhh, I see, you mean the test to measure the sit bone width. Yes, mine are very narrow
  7. Like I said, I have been to 4 well known fitters. We've had the saddle up, down forward and back. I've tried all the saddles and tilted them everywhere from +2 to -7. Does the DIY saddle test involve buying 12 more saddles?
  8. Any saddle/bike fit advice from anyone else. I went out this morning and confirmed this is exactly where the bones hit the saddle
  9. I think I tried all the Spez saddles, phenom, Romin, Power, Power Arc elaston. Maybe the Romin was the best but same as you, severe pain after 20 minutes
  10. The inside points of my sit bones stick into the saddle right here.
  11. I have been doing some heavy training lately and a couple of long flat rides so I can analyse my fit. The inside points of my sit bones which contact the saddle and where the pain originates from are approx 65mm apart
  12. The best bib I have found is the red Castelli which is quite firm. Ciovita and Assos are too thin and not firm enough. Just the other day I wore the Assos bib and the pain was ridiculous after 10 minutes. I actually have a funny feeling my sit bones are very very narrow and may sit too close to the cutouts in the saddle. I would say my sit bone 'points' are approx 65mm apart
  13. I have severe sit bone pain. I have had pressure mapping fits as well but the pain is ridiculous, has been for the past 5 years. BTW, I'm 45, pretty fit, very flexible. Did my first sub 3 last year after 3.5 years riding. I'm sure you can also guess that I've tried quite a few saddles. The best one so far being the Bontrager Montrose
  14. Sorry I'm a bit late to this thread but I've been bike fit a 4 different places, all highly recommended and I still ride in severe pain from the 20 minute point until everything has gone numb during hour 2
  15. WhatsApp me on 082 709 5400 if you would like to substitute
  16. Your cycling sounds too much like work. Just go ride (outside) and have fun
  17. I've wasted so much money on sealants that don't work. I would like to see a YouTube video containing tyres, nails and thorns.
  18. I wouldn't call minus 2 'inclement'. It's not just the cold weather, it's the long stretch of winter you have to endure before 'summer' appears for a brief moment
  19. Summer cycling is great but that British weather is a killer
  20. I wouldn't have enough hours in the day to start listing the bad car drivers I encounter every single time I am out on the roads on the bicycle, motorbike or car
  21. Try MP suspension in Milnerton, they have the correct bleeding machine. They are motorcycle suspension specialists but also do MTB and are the Ohlins agents for SA. BEST IN THE BUSINESS (I should know, I used to work there!)
  22. Bontrager Starvos MIPS R1300
  23. I rode Gordon's Bay to Betty's Bay on a Saturday afternoon and it was stunning. Not really busy at all out of public holidays and lots of cyclists. It's an incredible ride
  24. Lots of complaints about motorists but when I drove up the N1 at 5am for the Stellies bike race 2 years ago the right hand lane was the ONLY lane in use by cyclists driving their cars up to the race
