  1. It seems like the Liesbeek Parkway has become a bit of a hotspot lately. I was riding from Claremont into town, around 6pm and a guy jumped out in the road as I was going under the N2. He made an attempt to stop me but luckily I had a nice tailwind and was travelling over 45km/h so he changed his mind when he saw how fast I was going. There has been at least 4 incidents in the past month.
  2. I would also say Giant TCR. For 50k there are so many great bikes in the classifieds. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/401231/scott-foil-10-disc-di2
  3. A person doesn't need to have a reason or an excuse to buy an e-bike just as someone doesn't need to explain or justify why they paid R200k for a S-Works. It is also not any easier, just faster. I had a 9.7kg Giant Anthem that I used to ride up and down the mountain, you think a 24kg e-bike in eco mode is any easier or quicker up hill? I have to say though, the e-Mtb is a ton of fun and it just means I can go up and down The Glen 4/5/6 times in a quick lunch break. There are also ridiculously steep banks that you can put it in Boost mode and power up which you could never do on a regular MTB
  4. It's not a rip off... its what they charge and then you have the choice to go there or not. They haven't fooled anyone or misrepresented themselves. It's a free market.People should either learn to do it themselves or find a mechanic who charges what they are comfortable with but don't berate a shop when they were upfront with their rates. It is not your business to set peoples wages or rates. Is a group of people discussing your wages on a public forum?
  5. So why didn't you do this 5 minute job yourself?
  6. It may or may not be on the expensive side but I would hardly call it a rip off. Considering you can't do it yourself it's almost quite cheeky to call more than 4 hours labour for R1700 a rip off.
  7. I bought a Merida e-MTB. Now I'm working from home I can zip out for a lunchtime ride on the mountain. 25km's and 1000m of climbing in just over an hour. I wouldn't be bothered to take out my road bike for an hour of riding
  8. I do it most days, it's surprisingly quiet cycling against traffic on lower main, past the river club etc.
  9. Thanks for the heads up, I am always super nervous of car hire when abroad. They always seem to find a way to get you one way or another
  10. Momsen had some great sales
  11. 50km/h is a bit slow to get a speed wobble. I got one on suikerbossie at 75km/h, there's a section half way down where the wind comes off the left and there's a bit of buffeting which can set it off. Check both wheels are centered front and rear. Also, I have found that it definitely helps if you keep the pedals turning.
  12. I say we stake the place out
  13. Isn't your budget 35k?
  14. It's a shame you're not between 165 and 175cm because I have a bike for sale that exceeds all your requirements, Ultegra DI2 and 7kg and it is rock bottom 34k
  15. The aussie commentator sounds exactly like Edward Norton!
  16. They absolutely need to ask if it's available, the question is why are they all asking and never to be heard from again? For example, I'm selling a stem which you either need or you don't. 10 guys asked me if it's available, I reply that it is.... and nothing
  17. I always do
  18. I would expect that all day long on FB or Gumtree. I'm taking about our very own Bikehub
  19. Whether I am selling a whole bike or a stem, why is it that I receive 10-15 messages asking if it is still available and then never hear from them again? Are people bored or dreaming or crazy?
  20. Where are you based? If you're in CPT I have some you can have
  21. Sorry, not sure what you are asking?I'm merely pointing out that the future proofing argument doesn't make sense and therefore should not scare the OP into making a decision against them
  22. I don't understand the future proofing argument. Will shops stop selling rim brake pads? Rim brakes are simpler, cheaper and more importantly lighter. If you live in the alps buy a disc bike, if you live in SA get rim brakes
  23. After a long wait due to Covid my Factor VAM frameset finally arrived. Weighing in at a whopping 6.3kg!
  24. Lovely bike, nice to see a proper rim brake bike. Who owns the stolen bike now?
  25. I personally love LA the athlete. No way to win 7 in a row without being an a**hole. They all cheated, he just cheated better. The first 1min 30sec shows where the TDF is won
