  1. There are many large groups of riders that leave from the Shell petrol station in Moullie Point at all times of the morning. You don't have to hang around long to tag onto the back of a group heading towards Hout Bay. Although it's very safe on your own along that stretch. I even find it safer alone as cars can easily pass you. It gets more hairy in a large group.
  2. But then you said you would buy the Swift. Look at the photo where the guy is holding the pedal.... look at the crank, it is F***ED
  3. Any discount on these please? SHIMANO RC7 ROAD BICYCLE SHOE – RED (WIDE)
  4. I would rather a green bike than some of the rubbish people are cheeky enough to sell as 'barely used' and 'just serviced'. If you buy the wrong bike you can quickly drop 5k if you need a new cassette, chain and a buggered hub
  5. This is the only bike I found under 18k that looks really clean and with modern components https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/512484/trek-emonda-alr
  6. I'm sorry but I can't believe these old and battered bikes are selling for 15k. Old components, scratched up levers and derailleurs, cranks look like they've been all over the mountain, cheap and nasty wheels. Keep looking is my advice.
  7. Totally agree. Doctors in SA are very quick to get you into surgery $$$$. Go for 2nd and 3rd opinions
  8. Indeed, I cycled in the opposite direction by myself at 6:30am on the same day. I use the main road at that time of the morning although it was also very quiet
  9. Bloody hell, I go past there 3 times a week, alone. I always try to ride amongst the cars and taxis when going past the stretch from the N1 turn to Gympie Street. Easy to do later in the day with more traffic
  10. What would you like your medal to be made of for a R200 entry fee?
  11. They stopped replying to emails mid conversation so I haven't ordered anything from them in more than 2 years
  12. They have a saddle for R8500 to go with your R650 innersoles
  13. Ahhhhh, I see, you mean the test to measure the sit bone width. Yes, mine are very narrow
  14. Like I said, I have been to 4 well known fitters. We've had the saddle up, down forward and back. I've tried all the saddles and tilted them everywhere from +2 to -7. Does the DIY saddle test involve buying 12 more saddles?
  15. Any saddle/bike fit advice from anyone else. I went out this morning and confirmed this is exactly where the bones hit the saddle
  16. I think I tried all the Spez saddles, phenom, Romin, Power, Power Arc elaston. Maybe the Romin was the best but same as you, severe pain after 20 minutes
  17. The inside points of my sit bones stick into the saddle right here.
  18. I have been doing some heavy training lately and a couple of long flat rides so I can analyse my fit. The inside points of my sit bones which contact the saddle and where the pain originates from are approx 65mm apart
  19. The best bib I have found is the red Castelli which is quite firm. Ciovita and Assos are too thin and not firm enough. Just the other day I wore the Assos bib and the pain was ridiculous after 10 minutes. I actually have a funny feeling my sit bones are very very narrow and may sit too close to the cutouts in the saddle. I would say my sit bone 'points' are approx 65mm apart
  20. I have severe sit bone pain. I have had pressure mapping fits as well but the pain is ridiculous, has been for the past 5 years. BTW, I'm 45, pretty fit, very flexible. Did my first sub 3 last year after 3.5 years riding. I'm sure you can also guess that I've tried quite a few saddles. The best one so far being the Bontrager Montrose
  21. Sorry I'm a bit late to this thread but I've been bike fit a 4 different places, all highly recommended and I still ride in severe pain from the 20 minute point until everything has gone numb during hour 2
  22. WhatsApp me on 082 709 5400 if you would like to substitute
  23. Your cycling sounds too much like work. Just go ride (outside) and have fun
  24. I've wasted so much money on sealants that don't work. I would like to see a YouTube video containing tyres, nails and thorns.
  25. I wouldn't call minus 2 'inclement'. It's not just the cold weather, it's the long stretch of winter you have to endure before 'summer' appears for a brief moment
