  1. Yip, probably one of the best designs. Potentially the best ever. In it's day it totally moved the game to a new level. The fact that it's one of the only designs of the 90s that still exists today proves how good it was. The guy specialized bought the design from clearly knew what he was doing.
  2. Point taken. Actually agree totally. I just feel that the responses and insults levelled at the OP were totally uncalled for, blown way out of proportion and more insulting and degrading than anything he himself did. IMHO a few of the guys on this thread should lighten up, open their eyes, reread everything and offer some apologies of their own.
  3. Three words Ron....POT, KETTLE, BLACK. I happen to know SteveCT personally and as his explanation of his intentions clearly show, it was, as I originally assumed, nothing more than poking a bit of fun at a celebrity. It's half the hubbers jumping on their usual high horses and to conclusions about his intentions that made a mountain of a molehill. I just re-read the original post and Steve, I still don't think an apology was required, but that's just me. Relax a little guys.
  4. Can't wait for this movie! Looks really well made!
  5. StevO, google Ulnar Nerve Entrapment or search the hub. I've elaborated on it a few times on here as these issues tend to pop up on here from time to time. Not going to explain the whole thing again. I doubt you'll have the same issue as YABRA
  6. Was this on the frame in question?
  7. That sucks. Then the OP is at the mercy of CRC. Have to say that I have found them to be very helpful in the past. Hope he/she has the same experience.
  8. Login to your account on CRC Click 'view your orders' A list pops up showing your order history, status of every order plus a breakdown of every item in every order In the far right column under 'more info' you'll see a 'view order' next to every order Click that. Two of my orders were shipped via Royal Mail and it says this: "Order Item Status: Complete Shipping Method: Royal Mail International | Shipping Date: 19/12/2006 00:00:00 | Shipping Reference: RI434430552GB" Take that shipping reference and phone the post office tracking number (on their website)and give it to them and ask for the SA tracking number that replaces it once it gets here. They can give you an update on the package over the phone. Also, go to www.sapo.co.za and in the top dropdown box select 'Track & Trace' which wil open a new window. Insert tracking number and voila.
  9. Have ordered many times from them. Last order arrived last week Wednesday, exactly one week after ordering. Have you tried online tracking? And isn't parcelforce the standard service?
  10. The pics were not taken for/by 'Photobay', but specifically under direction from Bicycling Mag for an article they'll be running. As such they cannot be posted publicly.
  11. Nice Pinarello....I like
  12. My GF is going to either love or hate this....passionately....depending on (1) what I leave home with and (2) what I come back with. She would prefer 'everything' and 'nothing' but it might not quite work out that way
  13. I don't think it detracts from the beauty either. It does detract from the meaning behind the item. Like I said...it's just my personal opinion.
  14. I guess it's a matter of personal opinion. I see art as something that an artist poured hours of time, effort, heart, soul and self into. I don't see a designer sitting behind his laptop making CAD drawings of carbon frames in the same vein as a frame builder piecing together a frame by hand. Just my opinion.
  15. Sorry, but 'Art' is not mass-produced in a factory in Taiwan
  16. BC Bike Race for me rather....one day
  17. I didn't declare mine the one time I took it out the country. Didn't even think about it. Got nervous when the customs officials stopped me coming back in. Just told them I didn't know and that the airline didn't tell me it had to be done. They must've been in a good mood because they let me go but gave me a stern warning.
  18. He is actually a purely xc rider who is in his 50s and not particularly aggressive. So, no drop-offs or jumping. If he's breaking so many of them doing what the bike is intended for, then there is a problem.
  19. A friend of mine just cracked his 5th Anthem X Advanced....in about a year....just as a matter of interest
  20. Pictures please
  21. And it has to be said that they were a little bit sticky when it came to sorting you out when it broke(in a completely different location), right?
  22. I have seen it happen....when a friend fell off his bike and in losing balance went offline and stuck the front wheel directly into a tree. The fork is, obviously, designed to take huge strains so in such an instance transfers the impact to the frame Saying what I was thinking when I first saw this.
  23. Some high-rez photos from different angles might prove me wrong, but from what I see here, the dent in the first pic is some form of impact damage. If it was a simple stress fracture(and not impact damage) then the dent would not be worsened and misformed as it is in that pic. There would simply be stress fractures in the tube. That tube has very obviously been compressed in some way. I would guess that the frame received some form of heavy impact from the front which caused the downtube to compress at it's weakest point, which would obviously be the manufactured indent. Give us some photos of the damaged frame from the side showing the whole headtube area ie half of both the top and down tubes as well as the full headtube. Also, it doesn't matter that the dent is directly behind the suspension and thus protected. The damage is not caused by direct impact. In stead, as I see it, it would come from a force leveraged through the fork(from the front as stated above). It is perhaps possible that if the route was as technical and rocky as you state that hitting a large rock from the front could cause this damage, even if you didn't crash. If this is the case and it really is not due to crashing in some way, I would suggest you not waste your time fixing a frame that will break again and rather get a bike more suited to technical riding. A lightweight xc racebike is not such a machine.
  24. Was indeed an AWESOME event! Got 'overtaken' during both my beerstops. Need some serious practice! Rumour has it that this is also where the race was won. I was shocked to find out(way too late in my career) that beer actually makes me a better rider. Seriously felt like I'd never descended so smoothly in my life....but then I was riding through a beer haze so maybe it was just my imagination. Personal highlight was being heckled, mocked and tuned by SteveCT going up a singletrack uphill "YOU WANNA OVERTAKE, HUH, HUH...?!" while accelerating away from me only to have him hit the deck right in front of me after I caught him back up on the final descent....EAT THAT BITCH! Also, where the hell is my prize for biggest gear of the day...?
  25. It's simply a way to get feet through the door. I'm guessing that every week they'll decide what item will go on sale therefor they can't tell you what it'll be right now. Go ask Checkers what they'll have on special in a months time. These things are negotiated with suppliers on an ongoing basis. Nothing wrong with that. I don't see what the problem is. The hubbers really have become a bunch of whiners.
