  1. Got to agree with the guys about the wheels. I train on an old set of Mavic Kysrium Sl with an Ultegra casette and race with HED Alps with a Dura Ace casette. Race set up feels way quicker and more responsive and feels like you have more power.
  2. D R i fully agree. Plenty tougher races. Nice to see there are Rocky Horror fans on the Hub.
  3. I ride my MTB around the suburb during the week as its easier to jump onto the pavement to avoid the cars!!
  4. One bottle water, one bottle Fast Fuel and VitRace MRF sweets to chew. Plenty of all the right goodies.

    Helmets

Ive got a Bell Sweep R and a Limar 909. Both light comfortable and good warranties.
  6. Token i have a 53/39 on the front and i am definately a spinner not a power rider so maybe i should stick with the 12/25
  7. Jason. Thanks very interesting.
  8. 101% i must agree i have also never spun out on a 12/53
  9. What is the logic for this? Why dont you use the more difficult gearing to train with in order to build up leg strength then take the strain off to race? Or is the idea to use the more difficult/faster gearing for racing?
  10. What's the view on using a diffrent rear cassette ratio for training and racing? ie 11/23 to train and 12/25 to race?
  11. 64KM/H just before the finish
  12. Great idea.
  13. Cervelo i agree with you. RSA climbs cannot be compared to the mountain passes in Europe. Our races are really rolling hills not actual climbs in the true cycling sense, which means aero before weight.
  14. Never under estimate the bling effect. Watches are the best example, Rolex at R25K Casio at R500. Both tell you what the time is!!
  15. Mampara The Barloworld shorts are great. The shammy felt quite big initially but is actually very comfortable. Definately worth the money.
  16. Bruce Oh what memories! One of my favouritre tracks is ME262 off the live album
  17. Hey Bruce Blue Oyster Cult. You go boy!!
  18. We can but hope and pray.

    HED Wheels

I know CycleLab stock them but i dont know who else.
  21. What's the view on HED wheels?
  22. The general trend on the Hub seems to be against Shimano.Well i am super happy with my Dura Ace kit. No missed gears, squeaks, rattles, moans or groans. Just great stuff!
  23. Gumpole you are so right. Marathons are all about the last 10km. I personally hate 33km to 38km real no mans land.
  24. I live behind the equestrian estate and road the last two km yesterday. From the Jukskei river their is a short climb , 500m then the road flattens for about a km then another short climb of 500m then the finish line is about 200 to 300m further on. The finish is before the right turn up Maxwell Drive to the entrance to the equestrian estate . The markings are already on the road for finish, drinks, medals etc.
  25. Thanks BikeMax, good info as always.
