  1. +1 Still nearly p1ssing myself with your chirp. Dangle, also a good one. I haven't even had a beer and ALL you guys are funny tonight (and without the std bickering that follows)
  2. I only use XTR, stops really well when you pull them, (but aren't all brakes supposed to do that?) I love my XTR's. They are super responsive and always work- never suffered from any fade other than brain-fade.
  3. I'll bring my spade next weekend and help you dig a hole to bury the B@ST@RDS that did this to your patch of fun. We have enough fun just watching you maniacs do what you do, and this is seriously disturbing hearing of cr@p like this. Riders, if you don't like it, don't do it. Go around the jumps. Don't be a dick and break it coz it's not your cup of tea Rant over!
  4. I love the trails, but the service sucks. If you're the owner, take a step back and look at what the guys are saying. You must be a good oke, you reported back to us hubbers that you had found someone's wheel. Please jack up the restaurant and make it easier for us to stay and play and drink your cold beer.
  5. Cool pics. That stuff scares the **** outta me. Don't want to do my shoulder in again
  6. The rear stay doesn't look stron enough where it meets the BB. Also, there is a major stress point at the rear suspension & BB (because of it being a pivot point) needs to be super strong, as the motion of the rear suspension will change the centre of effort. Good luck with the project and keep us updated. Remember: everyone said Gary Fisher was an @sshole when he started designing and making bikes, and look where he ended up...
  7. Thank God first. He is good. Thanks to Eben and Merida, your wife and all your mates for being there when you needed them. Happy riding and see you on the trails. PS where did this nasty thing happen?
  8. +1 Give Josh a call, he's been doing my bikes for a while and he's good at what he does. 0seven3 2six1 seven4eight3 is his number
  9. Who, me? I have a carbon Commencal Skin Team, a carbon Volcan XC1, a Gary Fisher 29er, a pimped Scott Spark and am building up a carbon Specialized Stumpjumper.
  10. You guys will learn with time: speed doesn't kill, it's the sudden deacceleration that really gets to you.... The faster you go, the smoother it feels (until things go pear shaped and you're NOT on your bike anymore). Wheels are round and can roll really well, bodies don't...
  11. That old Litespeed might make a good single speed bike...
  12. Litespeed WAS the business. Geometry has changed drastically in the last 6 years. Look at the frame and then look at a new frame Have you got a very limited budget and therefore also riding an ancient bike? Both you guys have given really k@k advice. And now for the constructive advice: buy the newest, best frame you can afford, and then upgrade the components as you go along. And don't make the mistake of buying a frame that's too big for you.
  13. Yip, and it never took off. Either you buy a 26", or you buy a 29er. Or both. But you don't weld bits of each together to create a Frankenstein....
  14. I went over my bars in the rain a few weeks ago going down from Republic under the power lines.... didn't see a huge donga that had appeared because of the erosion. The best place to ride from is Nando's in Conrad drive up to Emmarentia Dam, around the dam for 2 or 3 laps and then back. Also cool to ride from the Woolworths parking at the bottom of Bryanston Drive (near River Road) up the Spruit to Emmarentia and back again. Easy riding, flat and fast. Keep left on the trails and avoid oncoming cyclists
  15. If it worked Spez, Giant, Merida and all the big bike makers would have riders on them for the world champs to showcase them. Google the topic and waste your own time looking into it and then report back for all to see on the hub.
  16. You're burning no calories coz you have skinny road tyres = no resistance. Come ride my spare mtb and REALLY burn calories. Teak Place sell cold beers, so 2 are well deserved after a good ride there with fat, knobbly MTB tyres....
  17. Why waste your time? It's been done a long time ago: it's called a 69er. There are even some for sale on The Hub. Buy one and try it. Real waste of money
  18. All you guys b1tching about Burry's crash. You should come ride with me, I do it all the the time, whether on my mtb or my KTM. It's not about crashing, it's about getting up afterwards and finishing. Well done Burry, your legs and lungs were there, but your bike setup/choice wasn't 100%. Hopefully your focus will shift to allow for the odd technical cockup and leave yourself a better chance in the event of failure.
  19. No,No No. It's not what I've done, it's what I plan to do.....
  20. You're allowed to stand anytime, but only if you hold your water bottle like the pro's do. Then you can do anything
  21. Hey bru, you dealing with an indian at both shops... You don't bargain, you don't get best price... Woe is the ***hole that rips off an unsuspecting client. Honesty is the best policy. Same as the whole Makro/Game/Builders Warehouse price fixing thing. They're one group, so they should all have the same prices for the same stuff. What is available in Boksburg should be the same price in Strubens
  22. Hi Hubbers. Anyone had a frame resprayed to original spec after it was damaged? Looking for someone that can do the painting and decals to restore to original glory. Please PM me details
  23. Learn to breathe properly, almost like Le Mans breathing for women at childbirth. That and not gripping your bars too tightly. Take your hand off the grip and shake it to get the blood back into the fingertips
  24. Yay, everyone are friends again. Maybe because it's too early for anyone to have had too much brandy and be really aggressive? Warms my heart when all the old farts love life again and aren't grumpy. Now go and ride your bikes boys...
  25. Big H, as an outsider I believe you have over-reacted. You have lacked the maturity one would expect from an individual that one would believe to be wise. Could you not have taken note of what was said and then reserved comment for when you were less frustrated? I agree 100% with the writer of this post. One drops off a bike with a problem, issues instruction as to what should be done, and goes to work to earn the money that is needed to keep this sector of the economy going. So no, I think it was rude of you calling the writer lazy because he doesn't want to fix his own bike, let alone test it after it had been supposedly serviced/fixed. The store should have a checklist that needs to be followed to make sure the basics are adhered to. I am prepared to do quite a bit of repair work on my bikes, but certain things need certain tools (of which I don't have all of them) and I'm not prepared to bugger my bike up trying to make it work. I have had the same experience at my LBS, at my Subaru dealership and at KTM after getting my other toys back. One expects to at least get what they have paid for, and trust me things like this are going to be a nightmare at the end of the month when the Consumer Protection Act comes into play. If a service has been charged for, then a proper service should be rendered. In closing, I think we all agree that crap like this will always happen. What we need to see is a change in mindset: how the problem is dealt with after it has been brought to the attention of the relevant people.
