Picked up a really old Bridgestone MB2 for R 450 today. Idea is tyo give it it the gardener, but jislaaik, thats a really nice frame, with lugs and all.

Is it worth turning this baby into a SS. Or is it really only good enough for the gardener??

All the best.

Leon

Definitely - one of my biggest regrets is giving away an Mb0 frame... dumb dumb dumb...

So I decided to stop thinking and walked to me LBS and bought a Momsen STR29.

My wife said it is a good looking frame :) post-26888-0-26597500-1381324564_thumb.jpg

So here is the deal. I have dibs on the nice components in the classifieds.

Do you have some pics of rear dropouts...looks lekker

Cool, looks like paragon sliders, winna wena, they work beautifully.

They are not paragon sliders, but the cheaper version.... work the same... just perfectly - although running a 2.3 rear tire on the STR29 means not using them with as short a chain as possible.

Anybody have a good source for wide footprint SS cogs that are not insanely expensive or made of lead?

If I'm running a halflink chain do I still need a tensioner?

Yes and no

If have a halflink there is a good chance that you will find the "magic ratio" meaning you will have enough tension without needing a tensioner. That lasts until the chain stretches and then you need one.

That Frame is the business!!

Mate at work bought one, and never before have I hated him as much.

Insane jealousy has taken over and I have not ridden with him since.

It's on my wishlist.

Just below the 6 numbers.

Congrats.

My 26er just happens to have a magic ratio on a standard chain - and it works fine till the chain is just over 1% wear - then I swap the chain out... so I have no real idea when it will fail or slip... chains are so cheap anyway..
