Wow my back hurts...

 

I had a new seatpost fitted before the race and all of the measurements were supposed to be spot on.

 

Will moving my seat back on the rails help?

it might be your core / ab muscles that are weak (unless it is only after the change that your back has gotten sore)

 

Oh ja, supposed, is not are (with regards to the measurements). Check them yourself. Check whether your saddle is tilting forwards / backwards - it could be that your pelvis is tilted and putting strain on your back.

I battle with tight hamstrings. If I stretch them regularly the back pain goes away. Then I stop stretching. Then the pain comes back after a month or two. Then I stretch them again. Then the back pain goes away. Then I stop stretching. Then... etc etc.

 

The tight hams pull on the glutes. The glutes pull on the lower back muscles. Riding with those muscles at the very edge of their range of motion for hours is very taxing. Any slight change in position results in some or other pain, or a pulled calf, hammie, butt or lower back.

 

If only I would follow my own advice.

yeah i have the same, I thought it was my camel pack with the extra weight, will be interesting to find out what the other hubbers have to say?

:thumbup: And you can train until you blue in da face , if you don't stretch these okes the backpain gonna stay .

Might be a hijack....I get shoulder pain from anything more than a 40 km ride... :unsure:

 

Setup?.....or is there a stertching exercise?

Both Hamstrings or just the one? My problem all of a sudden left hamstring and lower right side backpain........ occasionally gets the back pain but hamstring started recently?? :o

I get it in my right leg hamstring going into my lower back. I find mostly if I'm pushing bigger gears or pushing up steep hills. Streching definitely helps.

i drink more beer so that i know hydration is not the problem ;) on a more serious note i also suffer from stiffness from time to time but i just go with it and regard it as par for the course on the mtb.luckily it normally only sets in after about 60 -70 km so i guess it is to be expected.core strength training made me more relaxed for longer periods on the bike.
