Eh?  Thank goodness I prefer to (infrequently) drive pre-internet-connected and beautiful old cars.  The article claims the scheme applies to SA as well, is that the case?

Crazy, was discussing this with a friend. Once they realize sheeple will pay where does it end. Aircon subscription, small microtransaction to start a car after switching on the ignition?? Crazy times man!!!

mainly use your car during the day? no problem, just pay-as-you-go for those times you need to use your lights

Not entirely impossible (theoretically, because I have not tried it myself) to just use a "pay as you go" car in some European cities. Works on the same basis as those rental bikes. Download app, insert card, drive, leave it wherever your trip ends. Take another one when you need it next.

And that is fine but when you purchase a car as a consumer this nonsense should not be happening.

Volvo (and I think some other brands) also offer a subscription service in some countries. You subscribe to the use of your car (i.e. pretty much the same as a long term rental), and should you need a bigger/different vehicle for a holiday or something you can do a swap for that time period.

Same with some bikes (mostly e-bikes) in The Netherlands, complete with a maintenance plan.

'The Fifth Element' just turned 25. Now Milla Jovovich's daughter, Ever, has a Multipass.

May be an image of 2 people and text
