Hi Guys,

Considering a pair of Assos bibs, but is it really worth the money?

cheers

The Mille is the long-distance comfort bibshorts in the Assos range.

It is well worthit.

maybe it's because I'm more into dirt jumping, free riding and downhilling than I am into racking up the miles... thus my rear end spends minimal time on the saddle...

...so I find it crazy to think that people would spend R2000 on a saddle and about as much on bib-shorts

Not if you don't want to show off and know where to shop. My saddle R309 and bibs R450.

that's way more reasonable Mampara!

and I guess if a MTBer feels they "need" to spend 4k on a fancy saddle and bib-shorts then they're sitting down too much and the trails they're riding are boring!

I am really disappointed in my pair. After 200km's mys butt still hurts, so they don't seem to be any better than my usual shorts. I expected more!

The only thing that's gonna be comfortable after 200km is a jelly bath.

Strange you should mention that. Just this weekend I had an entertaining discussion with my kids about the alternative use of Jelly Babies as gelatinous cushioning on long rides. Carcbs vs. cushioning - the versatility of Jelly Babies. I'm sure someone will write a book about it one day

PS My wife did not enjoy the discussion. Especially when it turned to the merits of restoring salt balance by consuming the salty, crunchy brown babies...
