Was going to print on hahnemhule German Etching but not to be. Printer giving me an error message. It is an Epson 11880. Sounds expensive I'm afraid

Something I know absolutely nothing about

Just googled it - damn, that's does sound expensive.

I assume it's a top, top, quality print?

The first 2 landscapes I ever did with my 10-18mm STM el cheapo wide zoom.

Shot with Canon 70D, an ND filter. 2 exposures, and a tripod.

Very nice.

I was reading an article where they explain how to shoot the same shot using different settings - then stack in Lightroom/Photoshop. It then makes good photos even better.

That's macro stacking.

With a macro lens only certain bits will be in focus .

Earlier, what you were referring to would be HDR where you overlay images with different exposures to get all the tones and highlights correct.

Then you also get those lightning shots with bolts from end to end where the guy stacked 50 photos and upwards, everyone goes 'WOW" I just cringe .

HDR is one of the most dangerous tools out there. Used properly, its merely meant to change an image from something a camera can see to what a human can see*. But in the hands of many, it gets abused to absurd levels.

*Humans can see a stop or two more dynamic range than a camera. So when you looking at a sunset, it looks amazing, Then you take a pic of it and all you see is a great sky with very underexposed land.  HDR is where you take images at different exposures, and you combine them.

Despite all this, do an overblown HDR image, post it on facebook, que a million likes, so what do I know :P

I think stacking photos has a place in post production, for correcting minor problems or making a good shot better - but I agree, it's over use by wannabees is where it get's irritating.

Anyone can take a photo, but few know how to capture a moment.

I think stacking works really well with a long exposure stacked with a quicker exposure to get the desired effect .
