Andymann Posted August 19, 2014 Share Results will be announced 4 August. Thanks once again for all the support, I am confident that our little girl would have stayed ahead. Here she is wearing a fans beanie at sledding last Sunday. When I take my dogs for a stroll down the road, there is a Husky who they both like to have a little growl at....is it my imagination, or do Huskies eyes turn red when they are really pissed? I'm convinced they do, but it might also be my imagination.... IanJ

Wil6 Posted August 19, 2014 Share At least I can "talk about it" now... After a setback a while ago Nugget was much improved. But last couple of weeks was a real struggle, in and out of vet and everything, we could hardly get him to eat, even treats. In the end an old heart and cancer in both lungs, very bad, as well as plenty in the abdominal areas won the battle during the week. Even through all of this, he kept his smile and wag in his tail to hide his pain. At least he's now running free at the Rainbow bridge. So sorry to read this. Dit breuk 'n mens. Keep strong SeaBee
Andymann Posted August 19, 2014 Share Hehe, a pissed Husky, please take a pic next time they usually just get excited and want to play and runIt's quite funny - there's a prefab wall between the two of them with the top slat which has openings in it. The wall is just high enough that their noses can touch through the hole - nothing else. What follows is an almighty barking match with hackles and growling that goes on for about 15s before they both calm down and walk off as if nothing has happened. I wanted to try and take a picture, but the house is a digs for some Lions Rugby players, and the owner of the dog just happens to be that player who dated his girlfriend and his girlfriends mom at the same time, so I don't want to make him grumpy! I'm convinced they do, but it might also be my imagination.... I would love to see this, maybe the husky has a bad hangover every morning and his eyes are bloodshot. I don't think their eyes change and normally huskies are not at all aggressive they just make a lot of noise because they want to say hello. 428 others and Tumbleweed
SeaBee Posted August 20, 2014 Share On the waiting list for a chocolate lab, we did not want to get another black one. Well, I don't mind but it's too close to home for the girls. Kahlua is missing her buddy, though... Despite getting even more attention from us than previously! You can see she's hyper excited when I greet her at the end of the work day. fanievb Posted August 21, 2014 Share some good news Marathon dig in the dark to save stuck puppy http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/Marathon-dig-in-the-dark-to-save-stuck-puppy-20140820Durban - Cheers and applause echoed through the neighbourhood of Phoenix, Durban, at 03:00 on Tuesday, celebrating the fact that sometimes the little things matter the most.It was pitch dark as specialist rescue technicians led a team of 15, including firefighters and road crews, in a frantic search for one little creature. His name was Titus, an 8-week-old Mastiff, who had disappeared down a storm drain and whose plight had captured the hearts of men more used to dealing with scenes of human tragedy.Seven hoursTitus’s cries had been heard for over seven hours as his rescuers battled through shale and rock, trying to dig him out.As they toiled, Towlen Drive in Phoenix was illuminated by a roseate of emergency lights but by 03:00 they had all but given up hope. The tiny pup had fallen silent in the darkness of the underground drain.RescueTech spokesperson Nick Holmes, who was part of the rescue party, said: “We hadn’t heard a sound from the puppy for nearly two hours and we were on the verge of giving up when he started yelping again.“His frantic barking sparked a renewed vigour for us to carry on.“One of our guys managed to get his arm inside and reaching about in the hole, he got hold of the puppy and pulled him out,” Holmes said.As Titus was pulled from the pipe, the cheers and applause rang out.MissingHours before, his owner, Sheritha Neelakandan, noticed that Titus was missing.Counting the rest of the litter, she noticed Titus’s mother sniffing at the entrance of the storm drain in their garden. As she drew nearer, she heard the trapped puppy yelping.“First we called the SPCA and they came out and said we needed to get the municipality to help and tell us where the drain went,” she said.Eventually rescuers from several departments descended on their home, and were using heavy duty excavation equipment to track the path of the narrow pipe.Holmes said they were called for help late on Monday night.“We got the call from the Coastal SPCA on Monday night asking if we could help rescue a puppy which had gotten stuck in a drain. The fire brigade had been called out, but they weren’t prepared to excavate the drain pipe so they left the scene,” he said.Road crew saved the dayHolmes said that the arrival of a municipal road crew had saved the day.“We managed to get hold of someone at the municipality and they organised a road crew to come to the scene and assist with heavy digging equipment to battle through shale an Tromp, Wannabe, Little Fish and 1 other
IanJ Posted August 21, 2014 Share For those wonderful supporters that voted for Emily in the recent Montego Heroic Tails competition, today was the prize giving held at Husky Rescue near Lanseria. Emily not only won her category but was also the overall winner. Her prize consisted of a years supply of Montego food and cash, both of these are being donated by Emily to Husky Rescue to help out the other huskies still needing assistance. No Name Posted August 22, 2014 Share This is the newest member of the family (Tiggy). We heard a cat high up in one of the trees in our yard and we first thought it was one of our cats. Ended up being this skinny 3 month old girl. She is so lovable that you barely touch her and she starts purring. We posted on facebook and at the vet, and no one claimed her. Now the integration starts with our other two monsters. We are taking it extremely slow as the last integration didn't end up well and we had to re-home the kitty. So here is to hoping that all works out. Would love to keep her. Tumbleweed, Tromp and Little Fish
