Took my two "kids" to the Cape Animal Medical Centre yesterday as both developed badly stained adult teeth, Romeo's was particularly bad as there were black marks through the enamel on some of his front teeth. Went to see a very friendly and knowledgeable animal dental specialist, Dr Cedric Tutt, who explained that this typically happens when they get a viral infection as a puppy and pups in shelters are exposed to many different diseases.... Long story short, my boykie now has some really shiny and white front teeth, except for his upper left fang, which has not developed, probably due to taking a knock on the nose when he was very young. It is in the jaw but won't ever develop - but it is not used in the normal course of things in any case. -R4.5k later, and you thought kids were expensive, eish...

This has to be the gentlest dog in the world. Lay next to me, and instinctively knew not to be too heavy on my messed-up elbow with his paw...

They can "feel" it. Amazing creatures.

Miss my LabRetriever (same colour as yours in pic). It passed away a few years ago of old age.

They can. Their eyes can't lie. They even feel sore for us.

So true. They get that quizzical look where the eyebrows point upwards and move from side to side as the suss you out.

Mine used to do that and then nuzzle my bruises after I had a fall.

Tumbles has barely left my side since I got home from casualty on Friday. He's even been chasing off the puppies if they get too boisterous around me!
