R376 for rudy project helmet padding - WHAT A RIPOFF!!!!!

My zuma helmet's padding came apart after a while... So it is time for new padding. Asg quotes R376 for a new pair, and they have no stock. WTF!!! 376 for padding for a helmet that - bought for R700 ???? Now that is a serious ripoff. As usual chris willemse came to the rescue with a quote for R200. Still a lot of money but now I just need halve the vaseline. I would sure like to have asg's view on how they justify a price like that. Now that I know what the maintenance og this helmet is, I will definately not recommend anybody to buy this. My giro helmet padding kit is like R40.

that does sound steep, a spez one is like 150 bucks I think, plus you get a spare one when you buy the helmet so the first one is on the house.

Cyclelab didn't even bother to reply to my email asking about pads for my Uvex helmet.

Yeah, some time ago I also wanted new pad's for my Uvex, I had a spare set but had used it already, I didnt really look very hard but I called a few shops and I couldn't find any either, so I ended up riding with my old Bell again.

Then walking past Cajees in the Park Meadows centre I saw they had dozens of Uvex helmets in the window, I went in and they had all the models marked the same price, less than 700.00 bucks if memory serves me, so I just bought a new one and I still got a bit of a discount off that I think, cant remember.

So maybe check them out, I don't know if they still have any left, they said they were just blowing them out so they had marked everything down to an average...... - Pity there's no support locally for these helmets, I like mine, it fits just great and the fastening system is easy and quick, and for that price you can toss it away when the pads are finished....incidentially, there was a spare set of pads in the box.

Hi Guys,

Would like to know more - sounds very weird. Padding can impossibly cost this much - will check tomorrow but is normally less than R150 incl in total and at some of the expos they get replaced for as little as R50. Also convinced there is plenty stock (we keep at least 2000 Zuma helmets in stock at any moment in time) - really keen to find out where this comes from and promise to post a reply once we get to the bottom of this. Feel free to mail lizle@asgworld.co.za for a replacement if your local dealer can not help. Please also let her now who quoted this (ASG or a dealer) so we can follow up??

We have been going out of our way to get pricing on all our brands to levels that are cheaper or at least competive with online dealers.

Regards

Nooooo it's ASG being smart  Sold my dad 15 sets of Rudy glasses for the MTN cycling team (u16 and junior) @ R800 and they want R650 for the lenses now :D it's a ripoff BUT smart

They say no good deed go unpunished - R650 is under cost and R800 was plain stupid. We'd love to sponsor even more (and I think it is fair to say we sponsor more teams - junior, U23, Elite) than any other distributor but sometimes the best we can do is offer product at cost.

Groete
