Not comparing St George's to Galle

Impossible

Just referencing with regard to the 'spin - friendly' scale

Noted but while St George's does spin a fair deal for a South African pitch I don't think it spins as much as Galle does. St George's is slow and low but doesn't quite spin from day one as Galle might but point well taken regarding spin friendliness. Still it is going to be tough proposition for us to win and square the series.

As stated, I think our bowlers are producing the goods. Pity about verny going off the field. The lack of variation shown especially from Olivier was disappointing. My advice to the tail would always be, bowl at the wickets. A 9 or 10 batsmen doesn't need to be "worked out". Best chance you have is them missing the ball (what do I know tho ????). I'm still happy this crop of bowlers can do the business.

Our batting lineup has been shady at best.

Elgar is our senior opener and he very seldom dominants a bowling attack.

Amla needs to fly asap. We holding too long onto the #mightyhash. He is loosing his legacy very quickly IMO.

Bavuma needs to start converting all the solid starts. Looks good for those 30/40s then gives it away.

We rely too much of faf and Quinton to deliver the goods which isn't happening often.

see we are in *** again @ 185/7.

Havent caught any of the action, lakans been good or are we just up to our usual with the bat?

Seems to be a bit of both bru. The Lankans have bowled well in patches and in general I feel that they are deservedly ahead at this stage. That said it seems that QdK has gotten some support from KG and they're getting a rearguard action going.

100% agreed. If it's short he doesn't need to play at it. If it's at or near the stumps you have a bigger chance.

I really don't know why we can't control the tail.

Agreed, Perera looked in control from the word go. He also looked well after the other batsmen. Top class innings.

I do think we bowled poorly to Fernando. I personally will bowl every ball at his stumps and give yourself a chance. Every short ball is a ball wasted.

Trust me, it's not that simple.

Ottis Gibson is probably one of the best bowling coaches in the world.

They think about this a lot more than you do, and spend a fair amount of time practicing it.

9 time out of 10 we would have won that game, even considering we were a bowler down. These things do happen, it's what makes the game so amazing.

I'm always interested to learn more of the intricacies of cricket, so could you maybe shed some light on why you say its not that simple? What are the things they will be looking at and considering in a situation like that?

the frenzy is over for 154.

Not sure what SL tactics are as they are now comfortably 68runs behind. Lets see what we can bring to the party.

what ever happen to the days of SA pitches being decent test wickets :whistling:

When last do you remember a test going to 5 days? I think the way the guys bat makes a big difference. I have no view on the current pitch though

Wondering whether it's only the pitches - very few test matches anywhere going to five days of late...

I reckon the bowlers are becoming more aggressive / getting more used to shorter formats, and that the batsmen are also much more in the shorter version mindset...

Should be all over by lunchtime tomorrow...
