3 teams losing one match each and we are the unlucky ones.

It took us way too long to chase down 84 runs against Bangladesh. So no, not quite unlucky. In this format it was always going to come down to NRR, unless you go unbeaten.Ā

We also shouldā€™ve beaten the Ausies but our batsmen were poor. We relied too heavily on our bowlers in this tourney. Maybe next time. But donā€™t we always just say that. Ā Ā

That was the difference in the end, it was a close game and could have gone either way.

Personally I feel we're too defensive when batting. Richard Levi was a good example of how to approach T20 upfront. He went for it, and would often get out early at a run a ball but when he came off it was a game changer.

Comparison at 5 overs 26/1 vs 50/0. With such a small ground we really could have been more aggressive upfront. Knowing the requirements of run rate it was a definite move. Score board pressure was the only way we would get into this semi.

T20 is not a bowlerā€™s game. Thatā€™s for the Test matches.Ā
This was a tough group for the Blommetjies and NRR was always going to be a variable.

Ā The Proteas's bowling is world-class. In the end the lack of firepower in the batting department cost the team a place in the top 2. The top 4 needs to have big hitting power, at least, with a handy defensive stroke that can rotate strike.

Iā€™ve got one eye on the Momentum Proteas for the ODI WC in NZ in April. However we are desperate for game time in the middle with fierce opponents. Grabbing game time whenever possible. Itā€™s a rough era for the sport with unexpected disruptions and bio security details.

That's the ladies version, right? Good luck and all the best. Will NZ even have their act together by then, you might be in Dubai!

Ā

from the brilliant JRod, his main point Proteas got excellent bowlers. but none of them can bat.

hence the batsmen look at the long tail and don't have the licence to go bananas from the start. Very easy to look at england as being so much more aggressive when they have Rashid coming in at 10 (ave 19 in test cricket).

Also, we don't see much of this changing in the near future. Shamsi, Nortje and KG are solidly in the team so can only really bring one more allrounder in.Ā

Thank you, man. Ā Yes, we are ranked 2nd or 3rd in the world in ODI as we havenā€™t played for a while. I reckon Dubai is most likely hey.Ā @Shebeen
