I know it is out of stock, the used wrappers are lying on the mountain! In one ride I counted 5 dispensed GU packs and add to that the three I picked up on Monday, 8 GU wrappers that I saw in one week, I am sure there are more.

This is NOT a joke, many of you have forgotten the greatest benefit of mountain biking... nature. If this rant was over 5 wrappers it would not have been as serious, but litter is fast becoming an accepted form of ridding yourself of rubbish. RED BULL, MONSTER ENERGY, BAR-ONE WRAPPERS, MINERAL WATER BOTTLES, COKE BOTTLES, SLIME TUBES, GU SACHETS in a nature conservancy?

THIS MOUNTAIN IS NOT A DUMP.. do you care?

Absolute BS man! I agree 100%. Stupid w@nkers who don't give a **** about the environment.

Like someone said on another thread, 'it came from your pocket so put it back there when you are done with it'.

i strongly agree.if you brought it with take it with when leaving.the only things that are supposed to be left on the trail is sweat and tire marks.(take note not brake marks as that just shows me you do not know how to brake properly and do not understand erosion)

..and it was that exact act that is now taking away access to hundreds of miles of prime singletrack. Lest we manage ourselves or face the same fate!

Well said!

If you want to litter, rather keep your inconsiderate @ss at home.

I can't believe this practice either! Some people think that because they are in a race they are allowed to litter-YOU ARE NOT! It is no effort to put it back in your jersey pocket, it's going to get washed after your ride anyway. As for the people that are just using them on normal rides and dumping them wherever they feel like, you don't deserve to be a mountain biker in this country.

On another note, when you see a piece of litter on the trail you can either do the right thing and pick it up, or ignore it and be just as big of an idiot as the person who dropped it there.

..and this is from someone who sees a LOT of trails. This is a widespread problem that needs everyones's attention.

Respect the trails or go ride on the road where respect was lost years ago!

Its not just on trails (although with us cyclists/hikers we are the ones to blame) but in general, South Africa is fast becoming a scruffy country with very little pride in the environment...

You have no idea.In Botswana bottles are hurled out of car windows to smash on the road.

People dump their rubbish in the bush. All kinds.Builders rubble, waste, garden etc.

There is a total lack of respect for the enviroment in Botswana.

Funny enough our cyclists see this and carry their crap out with them.

Yeah mate. The same chops who toss their Steers packets and McDonalds Happy Meal wrappers out their car windows without batting an eyelid.

SCUM OF THE EARTH.

I rage. It usually causes huge amounts of Bull Elephant posturing and cussing sessions. But my take is that it gets the idiots thinking, if for only a day or two.

Here is a little can do - been there, done it!

I was following a local bakkie a coupla months ago. Out came the Steers bag. Except the bakkie had signage, and I knew where it parked. So I stopped, picked up the trash and visited the parked bakkie. I shoved the offending items so far up that vans zoompipe that I imagine it took the arrogant little t*it half the morning to extricate melted styrene from his notso-freeflow.

And if I see you doing it at races, SCUM OF THE EARTH, I shall be cynically civil, take your race number, make sure I beat you to the finish line and then raise holy Cain between yourself and the marshall/organizers/PA system.

IF YOU CARRY IT IN, CARRY IT OUT.

USE A DUSTBIN.

RECYCLE.

ACT LIKE A HUMAN, not an AMOEBA !

EDIT: The law of averages states that some who are reading this thread are guilty of this offence. Similar laws state that they will not reply, or try to defend their dimwitted, arrogant actions. The law of averages and the universe also states that I shall one day come across you and your bike, or you and your bakkie...don't think I am joking.
