My guidebook said, "Never look at the traffic in France or Italy. If they see that you've seen them, they keep going." It got interesting walking out into the middle of traffic circles and main roads without doing the "look left, look right, look left again", but the funny thing is that it worked.

:D Yah, well you are braver than me. Traffic in Paris is insane, buses, scooters, cars all screaming around on their hooters, and if its raining............ :o - go by underground. :)

So this morning on my way to work, some roadie decides to jump a red robot - intersection of the N1 and Waterfront... cars are coming off the highway! THAT WAS THE REASON I HOOTED AT YOU! So he decides to turn around and come and ask me what my problem is. After a little discussion, said ponce decides he's had enough, so he takes a kick at my car.

Moron, you are so bloody lucky that I didnt manage to catch you, because god knows, right now you'd be pulling your spokes out your rear end. Well done for making me - a cyclist - hate cyclists today. Dont worry, I'll see you tomorrow morning. And no, I wont be in MY car, so you wont recognise me....

But why hoot at the guy in the first place, anyway? To tell him that he is being watched? To tell him how stupid he really is, jumping red traffic lights? Trust me, anyone who jumps a red traffic light does not have sufficient brain power to understand WHATEVER you want to tell him via the horn of your vehicle. And cyclists like that do not care about putting others' life/property in jeopardy.

Cool it, take it easy and never, but never make threats of transferring bodily harm onto someone on a public forum ...

Like, Hheey doood! No arguments there doood. Chilled is the rule!

So chilled, that 'flickers' aren't really like, necessary like. Turning a corner is, like, a career move, like. Traffic filter lights are, like, a friendly way of playing "no, you first"... :D

I love Capetown bru. There are far less X5 drivers.

The Clio Brigade: Yep. There's a story. Renault Clios, pink, sick blue, green, all with a GT stripe??, and every one had a driver who was just so, like chilled, like. Probably genetic CT.

In Durbs it would undoubtedly have been someone on an E comedown. :)

I don't know. You live there! Is it like a club or something?

I just know that your latest problem is the Mini Clubman crowd. :P

Hmmm, playing off the old hippie stereotype there. Perfect.

Actually the only "problems" we have here are intolerant idiots who have issues with other people and they way they choose to do things. Who cares what car someone likes to drive, or what stripe it has? What makes the way you do things better?

I guess we're all hippies here then, hey we must be. Given the property prices here and cost of living we all sit around looking at the mountain all day too huh?

I was on a coach tour in Paris a while ago and we saw a scooter riding along next to a car kicking his car door @ 80km/h.

Welcome to Paris!

Holy fark, this thread is like the butterfly effect. One limp footed kick and 1000 0000 page thread erupts on a web server 1000km away.

 the server is in bloem ?

Isn't that how The Hub rolls on a daily basis?

i.e. standard procedure

We're trying to rival "I have an idea for a new thread ..." for non-sequiturs and other abstractions

I must comment on the hooting, not sure about thee rest of you but I hoot, when fellow cyclist take over the road, ride 2 or more abreast or even 5m from the curb. Just because we ride bicycles doesnt mean that we own the road

Chill man. All good...and I think those little Clios looked smart - if you are into Renaults, that is.
