it is a fine machine and not nearly costing R120 000 like someone remarked.

That was me and i worked it out on Europe prices but i see you selling the wheels at R17k where here i have seen them at 2000 Euros. So that makes your price a bargain, even for European buyers.;)

Unfortunately you will have to stick to a MTB specific chain. The 10 speed is is temprementle. You cant use a Dura Ace chain on it.

I know quite a few guys that use the 10spd Dura Ace chain on the XTR Race cranks, chainrings and cassette. From all accounts, it works well.

Yes, but you must remember that I buy them at dealer prices ...:)

If youre so concerned about weight ( rather than comfort ) why dont you just become a roadie ffs.

Of course I am concerned about weight - who is not? Who will want to ride a bike that weighs 10kg if he/she can ride a bike that comes in at 8kg?

As to your other remarks: I find the bike pretty comfortable, thank you. And I AM also a roadie [if by "roadie" you mean someone who rides a road bike]. There are quite a few of us around who like to ride/race both road bikes and mountain bikes.

Why this stupid obsession with weight? Sure....it's the lightest 29er in SA (....we'll post the medal! ), but it is definitely the most uncomfortable 29er in SA as well.

Get a top end suspension fork (new SID or Fox Terralogic) on that frame, as well as a proper saddle. Even if the bike weighs 9kg. It will be light for 29er, and you would enjoy the ride.

Come on hubbers.....ALWAYS KEEP IT REAL!

Great, I'll wait for the medal :D

Have you posted this on Weight Weenies?

They can also be a tough crowd, but a few more bike porn aficionados there ;)

I'm using an Ultegra chain on my 10sp drivetrain, I know that they say you should use the new 'dynasys' uni-directional chain as it 'improves' shifting but I have had no issues yet .....

Take off the bar ends and gears and you would have the worlds lightest( and coolest ) single speed! But it is sweet as is. Rode a fully rigid recently, reminded me of the early days when there was no suspension.

:DDon't know about the gears - will never make it up the mountains. Yep, back in 1988 I raced in the USA and a shock was unheard of. I remember coming down the Kamikaze Downhill on a fully-rigid bike, tires inflated to almost 4 bar and praying that bike and body will make it to the finish line.

It was only back in SA around 1992 that Rock Shox produced its first suspension fork - black, with pink decals - ugly as sin and probably the same weight as the bike itself! How things have changed ...

Ah, now i know who you are. Nice pick of you in Die Burger after the rhino. We must chat about the ax stuff, need a carbon handlebar and would like to get n price list from you. I will pm you my mail address. Interested in road wheels as well.

Have they disconnected the nerve endings in your rear end and hands? Light - impressive but eish - an hour on a rocky race route and somethings gonna be sore. Give me 10 kg of epic 29er or even better 11kg of stumpy comfort any day.
