The last time open testing could be done with race cars at kyalami it was R7000 per hour plus VAT. I think you can consider R20 a bargain. Rather squeal about the price of milk or something.

I'm sure Wesbank Raceway was R20 & that got redeveloped 5 or 6 yrs ago.

Kyalami are a business, charging for their facility, and R15 or R20 seems pretty damn reasonable.

I cant believe people complained - just recieved a email saying they have dropped it to R15 untill further notice. From a safety perspective especially for those who work you cannot beat it, even if it is just going round and round...each to his own indeed

I agree , What do the people pay to spend an hour on a spinning bike at R300 per month for 20 times gives us R20 . I wish we could have a place like this in Bloemwhere you do not have to worry about traffic etc.

Tell you what then, you guys give them R20 and tell them to keep the change.

honestly, people miss the point - as consumers we bend over too easily in this country. Whether its fair value at R20 is separate discussion, as a business practice doubling your price overnight is simply poor form and should not be done without pain.

On principal therefore I am glad I clearly wasn't the only one that complained, and I'm even more glad that they listened - and responded so quickly. They also comment in their amended letter that they have heard our suggestions for some sort of season ticket access or similar - so kudo's to Kyalami for listening.

Why not, we're not a communist country(yet). Kyalami is a business and can charge what they like. Its up to you to decide whether its worth it or not. If not then vote with your wallet and don't ride, or go build your own racetrack.

I was paying R15 just before 94.7 so R5 is fair considering they moving it to main pit area and offer this opportunity during the week..... For cycling I will pay! It's the damn insurance I cringe over regarding increases!!

hahahaha, you were being ripped off for an extra R5. the rest of us were paying R10.

Nothing like a little greed to bring in the new year, perhaps a nice drop in their revenue got them to reconsider. Pity that one of the last 'safe' road riding spots is being squeezed. Pretty soon everyone will be on mtb. Oh wait I forgot, Teak Place also closed down...

Did I suggest government should stop them from doubling their cost overnight? That would be communism. What I suggested was that consumers (ie the demand side of a very capitalistic concept of supply and demand) should not accept this. This happened in a form, the supplier responded appropriately and capitalism lives on!
