USN MTB Cup #2 at Voortrekker Monument 18Feb

After the great 1st race on Saturday, I might follow this series.

Thinking about doing the 50km, but not too sure about the route profile and difficulty. With my current level of fitness etc it should probably take me around 3:30 to 4 hours. It would probably not be a bad idea to do it, as I cant think of a better wake-up call than to suffer a bit

I'm in my 3rd month of slowly picking up my training, did the 30km with relative ease, but I need to put time in the saddle to build endurance.

Hey RJ,

I've done the Voortrekker Monument race a few times, its an awesome race, but it is pretty technical! Some awesome, rocky downhills...

Think I may do this one too!!! Always well organised!

Really good all round race. Nothing too hectic to make you hate life. The "50" was shortened last time, they may do the same but if they don't it's no biggy. Some of the rocky sections can cut tyres. Saw lots of guys with flats. That is all.

I ride in the area most mornings (Klapperkop). The thunderstorms over the weekend have loosened all the rocks, so it's pretty hectic at the moment. Can't say I know the course that well, but if it was tech before, it'll be really challenging now.

Super fun tho' - can't see too many roadies enjoying this one.

Can anyone post the track here, please?

I would love to see how much of the track we can ride on training weekends. I heard there was some serious climbing in the race.

As always Andrew and Dylan did a great job!! Thank you guys!! Just sad to hear that someone's trailer with motorbike was stolen whilst he was busy doing the race!!

Allot more technical on the single track decent sections opposed to last year from the rain.

Good preparation for Sabie.

Does anyone know where we can see some photo's of the race?
