Not sure why I'm posting this but at the of chance that one of you idiots can actually read.....

The Cycle Lab bunch that rode the jeep track going past the estate opposite the Irene Mall, are you all really that arrogant? (I pressume you belong to the CL club since 99% had the kit on). I'm riding in the left track of the jeep track and you come from the front and refuse to give way. Were you really expecting me to ride into the veld so that you can come past? As you approach one by one you eventually decided to move to you left track. One over weight piece of crap actually refused resulting in us both coming to a complete stop in the middle of my side.

If this is your attitude off road I can only imagine what you must be like on the tar. It's people like you who makes motorist kill cyclist or drive cradle dwellers to tacks, both which I wish upon you because cycling can do with less of your type.

BTW apologies to the guy riding shot gun. You were the only one who a) greeted, B) move over and c) indicated to those behind you to do the same. They all basically told you to f-off by their actions. You are also the only one not wearing CL kit.

A bit like this Muddy?

How odd that two rants about pretty much the same thing should be active at the same time... guess there is road mentality behind this incident posted here.

Easy to solve... as you ride past or just before them. pull your pepper spay out and spray over your head to the back or to the correct side... then stop just after you past them turn and take picture.... ;-)

I see this alot at Northern Farms every time I ride there, You come down the Jeep track around the corner doing like 40 - 45km/h and as you come around the corner here comes a family up the hill using both sides of the track. you gotto brake hard and come to almost a stop before their peanut brain realises and then they wait for family or friend to give them a gap so they can move back into line at 3km/h which takes even longer. Even on the straights where a person can see you coming from 100m away you have to vertually collide with them before they move out the right hand side track into their own track. Its simple people, I trust most of you passed your drivers...Keep left pass right DAMMIT. Hijack finished.

I just need to make one thing clear - I have no problem with them taking up both sides of the jeep track. I don't even have a problem if for some reason a rider comes from the opposite direction and does not see me. But this was just pure arrogance. The front guy in the bunch saw me coming and I actually heard him shout, and gesture to the group to keep to their left, but like I said they just gave him the provebial finger and came at me with a 'we are bigger than you' attitude. I slowed down to give them time to move over. Is it a Cycle Lab attitude? I won't know but an interesting question was asked on why these incidents alway seem to involve them. If memory serves me right the whole Cradle issue was started by CL bunches taking over the road there. But they can be sure that next time somebody will be tasting pepper, and it won't be me ;) Sad that I am now contemplating using a self defence weapon meant for criminals against my 'bretheren' but if that is what it takes so be it.

Doubt you should generalise like that. Cyclelab as a club is pushing safety really hard. Even posting photos in the newsletter of people transgressing. Idiots are idiots, irrespective of the sport, or club they belong to. So there is a big drive to clean up the image of the club.

Cyclists are people. And the bigger the herd(group), the more idiotic and sheepish they are. This is irrespective of race/creed/colour/IQ/financial/whatever status

If someone peppersprays me while out on the trail I will beat the crap out of them with their own front wheel. Although a simple hello and curtious riding is what I normally do.

Sounds like road-rage?? :whistling:

Its really ironic on how one day we bemoan the fact that the trails are unsafe and that we need to grow the sport of mountain biking and the very next day we moan when new-comers use our trails. Instead of educating riders and bringing them into the fold, we end up alienating them with our confrontational attitudes.

Insulting riders and making reference to people that are overweight as done in the OP not only shows your character, but also shows that maybe you should be looking for recreation that you actually enjoy.

I am a mountain biker at heart and a roadie by default at this time of the year. The attitude on the trails lately seems to be worse than that on the road.

Peace and love, PEACE and LOVE.

Next time try to catch up with the leading rider afterwards and thank him for his effort in trying to get the riders with him to give you some track.

Why don't we try to get along on the trails, opposed to being envious of their shiny bikes and cars. Odds are that these guys and girls work 15 hours a day to be able to afford the nice cars and fancy toys and should not feel guilty about it.

I am not the one who said that they would pepper spray other riders. And I am all for new riders on the trails. Hell I even got a couple of my friend to become riders. But if some one brings his road rage to the trails there will be repercussions, even in self defense. People should think before they type.
