How about this 26" Shova running 650B wheels

yeah, I saw that bike in a thread once... the owner said something about having clearance issues when the shock is fully compressed... but maybe when put on a bike with less travel than a Shova it could work without fault?! At the time he hadn't taken it out for a proper ride yet... it would be interesting to know what the verdict was.

That be your bike? Nice ride. Where did you get the 650B rims from?

Not my bike. Found the pics on the internets. Alot of people put 650b wheels on 26" bikes. But most them run the same make of tyre so it looks like the problem is with the manufacturers.

29'ers are better climbers, faster over rocky'er surfaces and just plain quick. Still love my 26er, but the 29ers eats k's

Soon 29" wheels will be out dated

The Ultimate MTB Wheel Size – 650B

Most mountain bikes use 26” wheels. Some use 29” wheels. KHS new 650B mountain bike takes the best from both...and does things even better. Bigger than 26” wheels, for better rolling and tracking. Smaller than a 29” wheels, so it weighs less. That’s why the new KHS sixfifty606 uses the new 650B wheel size. For the ultimate in mountain bike performance.

• Better Comfort, Stability & Less Rolling Resistance than a 26”

• Less Weight & Better Handling Than a 29”

• Ride Performance You Can Really Feel

I've said it before and I'll say it again - why bother going 650B? 19mm extra? Would you even feel it?

Don't forget the opposite is also true:

- Worse Comfort, Stability & More rolling resistance than a 29"

- More weight & Worse Handling than a 26"

- Ride Performance you cannot really feel...

i have been curios a looong time about this wheel size and it makes technically sence to me... i was however not convinced i wanted to go the route of KHS hardtail available. it's part spec is not too wonderfull and i am done with hardtails for now. i did a fair amount of reading and the cult followers in the states seem to think this is the wheel for duallies. too make it simple you should be able to just buy the wheels if you have a COMPATIBLE fork and frame. it did not work that simple for me... i had NEITHER. so ditch the SID get something like a FOX or manitou. i got a R7. i came across a fella who had a 2012 sample bike in his garage (german brand Pearl) ogled it and bought it.. mistake.. now i had two full sus frame that dont fit the wheels... some modification required and i was ready to go. imported Pacenti tyres and American classic 650b wheels.

the end result below. it rolls VERY nicely love the descend on it and singletrack. it did give me a fair go on the climb and i was dropped by a 29'er...errr maybe i'm to fat...

if you want to find out more .... read here http://forums.mtbr.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&securitytoken=1309277215-a164a557894366714e4e0a5228e358b82ac5c910&daysprune=&f=135

you can use the same gear ratios as 26 inch bikes. and if your frame has 2cm clearance from tyre to frame and you have a Fox fork or Manitou the you can just buy the wheels. WTB have brought in some werewolf tyres and rims you can even rebuild your current wheels... do you really want to follow that 29 movement?

Oh FOR TLOATH

What the hell are you starting NOW. This whole **er wheels thing is finally dying down and you start a #*er wheel thread.

You are the AntiBike sir. Crankbrothers Mallet and a Carbon seatpost through the heart for you.

KHS have a bike with the same size wheels. I like the look of your pearl, very funly looking, but you might wanna add some bar end plugs on the handle bar

A Cannondale Lefty also is ideal for a 650 conversion.
