I think our crash in Elite bunch on Hospital bend was almost as bad as the Ladieszzzz bunch...it was a real tense ride

 The elite group was way larger than allowed by the UCI for a race of this nature. Don't expect UCI rules apply to the Argus now the Giro has gone but they are made for a good reason.......

yeah, that first crash was a little hectic - sounded like a tubby blew. i nearly didn't come to a stop in time - had flashbacks of my crash a few weeks back. creepy.

i was at the back of that bunch when the ladies were coming in - not a great way to end a ride, was pretty graphic. i hope everyone's ok.

Ye, I'm over racing the Argus. Maybe tandems for me next year, or I'll start at the back with my daughter.

Anyone using Strava.com? New KOM time for Chappies from $ yesterday - full ascent including little Chappies - 7.42 - 35km/h average x_x

C group went so slowly as we kept on stopping on the m3.

Probably some idiots swerving and everybody must them stop. Looked at my speed and we weren't going fast. Groups were to big and there was no chance you could move up to try get past the mayhem of people. The group stopped at least 3 times before Newlands Forest.

Too big a groups and most people taking huge risks (cutting you off, nearly hitting your wheel etc). After all it's the only race that non cyclists care about so people will risk it all in order to tell their friends they got x time.

I took it easy and didn't take any risks. Coming in at 3 hours or 3 10 wont secure me a sponsorship so rather have a chilled ride and come home in one piece.

I don't understand the logic of the groups further back. These guys go flying down Hospital bend like they are old pros and next you hear screeching brakes and grinding metal on tar. I saw a guy go down on the straight before the M3 split, he landed up in gutter on the right. I braked so hard to avoid the other guys stopping thought I was gonna go down broadsliding between the guys. Talk about breaking in new tyres. Scared me for the rest of the decents on the route. Funny thing is you catch up to all these guys on little uphills and flats.

Some people. I will let you be on my team, as a domestique of course. Your key functions are is to make sure the beers are cold at all times. Secondary functions can be negotiated as the ride progresses.

If next year has the same starting groups for the first bunch, I'm not riding either. Maybe we can share a tandem!

This is starting to sound like that classifieds ad that popped up just before the race - chickie wanting a domestique.
