I'm not a big mtn biker but was thinking, while watching the DSTV coverage today, what set up of bike most of the normal guys (non sponsored) are riding in the epic.

29 vs 26, dual sus' vs Xcountry hardtail... are the big brands up to it?

Any past epic people want to list their rides?

and throw in a few 27.5" ... commentator said yesterday there are quite a few this year.

So there's a mixture of HD & FS on 26, 27,5 and 29". No Unicycles though?

Explain how you get to that conclusion, based on what the OP posted?

BLACKvoodoo used his common sense and noted that the way mingmong used the term 29er, that he was sick of jealousy for not being able to afford one. I am also getting a bit sick of people who has much to say about things they know little about.

Then I must be extra slow this morning, still can't make the connection how BV got to the conclusion that mingmon can't afford a 29'er and is green with envy because of it. :stupid:

Full suspension 29'ers were quite popular

26'ers still exist - especially among the foreigners

Even the odd 'retro' 26" hard tail...

I've done 3 Epics on 26" FS. I changed to 29'HT 6 months ago. It's a Scott Scale RC29. An awesome bike and I really like it. I just did the Cape Outback on the 29er. As I have a cronic problem with lower back pain , I don't do Epic anymore. For me , the HT was too hard on the rough stuff. Nothing to do with wheel size, but when you get older(I am 45), I think FS is better in a multi day event.
