Read a tweet from him last night that he'd been following the Epic, and would like to do it one day. I recall him talking about this in the past - I think it was around the same time he did the Argus.

It'd be awesome for the already-great international profile of the race.

What do you reckon? He's pretty handy at ultra-distance MTB races. How do think he'd fare at the Epic?

Obviously also depends on his partner. But I think he will do it much like Raynhard Tissink - finishing 10-20 placing, maybe top 10 ?

The partner thing would be interesting. Maybe a team-up with someone like Dave Wiens?

Very good guess... will be an excellent pairing.

Some more thoughts - In mtb terms he is a fairly big guy so will be interesting

He does carry a bit more weight that the "waifs". I wonder if the tri training would contribute to this. But he's a great bike-handler - remember his off-road excursion at the Tour! - and has plenty endurance.

That was insane, saw it again the other day. Excellent bike skills.

I see Wiens also weigh over the 80kgs.

That seems quite chunky, but he does fit it into a 6-foot-plus frame..

Would be a huge feather in their cap if they could pull it off for that anniversary.

It's all about the bike money. I don't suppose he'll enter and rock up like an ordinary Joe Soap.

I believe his fees are around a million gorillas just to pitch up. Didn't some big company put up the money for his Argus appearance?

The argus trip cost somewhere in the millions. Why would anybody pay LA a bar or more to race masters at the epic?

Nobody pays Shan and Mighty Mouse appearance fees to win it.

It would be a bit unfair to pay Lance and Levi when the best they'd manage is 2nd.

Burry even kicked his ass on the road at fun ride world champs.

Tumbleweed its to early in the year to start LA arguments, and i just changed my avatar because someone was complaining about it!

I wonder what the viewership stats were for the first 70.3 (Panama) that LA did were like compared to normal, would be interesting to know. imagine how slow the CE website live tracking would be if half the planet were trying to follow LA at CE

To answer your question, if he put his mind to it and had a capable partner i reakon a top 10 would be achievable, but with his current status quo probably top 30. His years of tour racing coupled with his continueing training (i.e. he still keeps in shape) should bode well for him.

The big trick is if he would do it and if so who would pay the alleged millions?

@ LLuke - No disrespect to SW and AM but from a celeb point of view they are not in the same league as our mate LA.

Also, I think two years ago, won the Leadville 100 with a flat rear wheel.

That guy can ride.

Partner, I reckon, Floyd Landis.
