So the prices of the frames has been announced http://www.pygaindustries.com/pyga-purchase/

R 16 000 for the OneTen29

R 5 500 for the Zero29

Do you guys think these bike are going to fly of the shelves or will people be a bit sceptic?

I'm about 70% convinced on buying one.

I read the OneTen29 's review in the last Bicycling , but what about the hardtail ?

I wonder how the HT compares to say the Niner Air 9 alu ( which i'm considering )

I have booked a 29er FS

I was lucky enough to ride the hardtail a little while back (on proper, Karkloof trails - not a parking lot!), along with the dual sus. Phenomenal is the only way to describe it. Able to compare it to a number of similar style / priced frames that I have ridden, and they do not come close in that range. Handling is superb, and power transfer brilliant. Only issue is that in order to achieve this, the frame uses an X12 rear axle system, so make sure your hub is convertible, or you may need to get a new back hub / wheel (but it is definitely worth it!)

Personal preferance is towards the hardtail (but I am a single speeder, so back shocks just feel strange to me!)

A Pyga single speed would be nice too

Quite a bit difference in price between the HT and FS. Surely it can't be that much more expensive to make the FS, even with the price of the rear shock factored in? Still want one though :)

Well, a lot of design input on the frames came from C-Sixx's Mark Hopkins (Of Leatt fame), so going to be twisting his arm for a custom tensioner to fit the frame (cos I really have to have one of these and SS is the way :whistling: )

Thinking of going FS but its not going to be specced as hot as if I take the HT and put xtr on it .

Components wear out and XT, even the latest SLX will give you a great ride.

Start with the soul of the bike, the frame and combine this with a good fork and wheels ... the rest can be replaced when it wears out.

The thought of a PYGA HT with horizontal SS drop outs and the option of bolting on a der hanger makes my toes tingle with excitement

Must admit it's not the nicest looking bike in the world but looks aint everything.....

Also looking at the Air 9 alloy or maybe the carbon ( now that's a head turner )

I am trying to work out the details for a (fantasy) build

142x12 rear axle

Tapered head tube, but 1/2 pressfit and 1/2 drop in - what headset to use?

It would be logical to use a tapered steerer fork with 15QR drop out - Fox 29 120mm ?

Direct mount front mech

What diameter seat post? 30.9mm?

Post mount rear brake ?
