I'd rather take tea than bad coffee. But yes do get the problem a lot.

I usually find this with the non cycling friends  .. or do i just need new coffee loving friends? :whistling:

Nice pic of the shot...be careful of the nice shiny machines when taking pics! last time I did this, the reflection in the machine showed I was not wearing much - first coffee in the morning and all... . My friends didn't appreciate the gesture and didn't seem to notice the caramel looking coffee flowing into the cup.

Isn't that's why they call it a "naked" portafilter???

I need your help gentleman.

Our Oscar does not have enough pressure to make a decent esspresso anymore. The coffee trickles out of the portafilter, even when I don't even tamp the grounds.

I think it might be the pump, a valve somewhere that is not regulating the pressure, or it might be a piece of scale lodged somewhere in it's guts. ( I hope tgat it is as simple as this.)

We got the machine when a family member's coffee shop closed down. I know she never cleaned it properly or did a backflush on it. We don't have a backflush portalfiter disc, so I will need to source one.

I tried opening it to see if I can fix it, but alas, it is not a bicycle. so I ran out of talent quickly after opening it. Has anyone got some advice. after experiencing something similar? my last hope is that a lekker backflush will magically fix it.

Does anyone know where I can service it in Cape Town area? I live in Somerset West.

You can easily make a backflush disk with some thin rubber from an old bike innertube - just cut it to fit the inside of your portafilter basket to cover the holes - I don't think that a backflush is going to solve your problem, but it's worth a go.

If that does not work, call Allesandro - the NS importer in SA and ask who the local service agents are in CT

Hi for some DIY, there's a video on You Tube of a guy taking apart an Oscar and putting it back together to do some mod, have a look - I haven't opened the video yet, but it's almost an hour long, so must be quite comprehensive? worth a shot.

Here is a video of a great pro at work... a machine....

If you are really interested - time his steaming and the pours... insanely consistent... ALL within 1 second - and he is pretty busy doing other things at the same time.... kind of made my head spin a bit...

that's insane! How thick is that milk? Think I figured out why my pouring has been so poor.
