Don't know yet. Getting the cassette today, as Coolheat needed to get the cassette to the shop and couldn't deliver by the time I collected the rest of the stuff.

From what I've felt though, the GX kit is BEAUTIFUL. Crisp shifts (it's all mounted apart from the cassette and chain) and a wonderful shifting action.

The only reason I went shimano cassette is cos the XD driver for my hub would have pushed it slightly over budget. Plus there's no reason not to mix and match cassettes & chains with different shifting mechanics. SRAM reps even recommend it to keep cost down. Shimano have been building cassettes for a LOOOONG time.

Cost wise the xt11 and gx seem about the same, can save a bit on a sunrace 11-42 cassette though so was thinking about getting one of those to go with it.

yeah. I've heard of a few bad reports on the sunrace, but it is cheaper. Not a lot, but yeah...

Bent rings, essentially. Granted, it was only a couple of reports, but yeah.

Praxis ring (was) brilliant, IMO. Light. Well made. Proper tooth spacing. Between the 2 though, I'd probably go Sunrace for the wider range. Not so sure how that "report" was due to abuse and / or bad maintenance. May also have been a bad batch or something. Not sure.

I recieved my sun race 11-42 this morning, fitting it today. Will take a while before I review but will let you guys know how goes. Those negative reports were based on older models. I spoke to the guys at rapid and they said spec wise, it's on par with xt. I guess time will tell.

Sweet. Thanks for the feedback, Maximis.

Hope you guys are going to be able to clear the 42 with B screw adjustment if you running a Std 10 speed RD. Interested to see the feedback once tested out on the trails.

SGS RD definitely clears the 40t with the standard screw. May need to get a longer screw for the 42t though.

What about the GD (medium cage)? Would it clear the 40t with standard screw?

GS Should do it, though I don't know how long the actual screw is. IIRC you'll need to change it if you go for a 42t. Maybe. I think that was the limit with the standard b-screw.

Oooh CWC goodies just arrived which is quite something considering how busy they were.

I ran an 11 - 42T with an XT Medium cage and the standard screw.

Did it clear... yes

Would I recommend it... no.

Why... because shifting was sluggish and got rather irritating. In fact, down-right crap!

So if you're going to do a 10sp wide range cassette (even an 11 - 40T in my opinion), and you're not running a SRAM RD, then a RAD or RADr cage is needed to provide responsive, precise shifting.

This here shows how the RAD and RADr cage better clear the sprockets by offsetting the upper pulley (which SRAM RDs already do).
