In the end it came down to cost. And I only run a single ring up front, so I was only ever going to order the RH shifter. Having said that - if it turns out I don't like the SRAM triggers (haven't tried them for an extended period of time yet, so dunno how they'll do) then I'll have to bite the bullet and order me an X0 gripshift to go back to that. I must say though - I LOVE gripshift. So it will take a bit of adjustment to go over to trigger again, and then to a totally different trigger that is only thumb actuated as opposed to being finger & thumb actuated.
