Wipeout2 Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Not sure if this has been done before. I have not ridden many trails in SA, but want to start to try all the different trails. My toughest one so far was the GREEN ROUTE AT MANKELE.....I thought the uphill section would never end & then on some of the downhills I was at my skill limit no doubt, but in the end it was great. What has been your toughest trail & is it worth reccomending to others to ride?. Thanks. Going to try Groenkloof this weekend.

Bike park specific id say down the road from rietvlei ..Thaba trails is rather a tricky to ride all of it .. The magalies monster race route is something i found freakin tough ..

Robrider Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 How do you define tough? Distance, technicality, climbing or a mix of all? I don't find Barberton particularly tough technically, the climb is long, but smooth, so not that tough, but the length of the ultra would make it a tough ride. But by that measure you would have to include other long races like traansbaviaans which are long but not technical. Again, the Monster is a killer race, but I wouldn't go as far as calling it the toughest trail. I would lend more weight to "technical"+"super steep climbing" rides, and would go with Thaba or mankele
